Here are the results of Harding County Coyote Calling Contest held this weekend in Buffalo. There were twenty-six teams and they got 14 coyotes, 4 fox, 2 badgers and a bobcat, which was pretty good considering the wind blew like a banshee Saturday and it wasn't much better Sunday.

Bill Anders and Dayln McCann were the overall winners, bagging three coyotes and a fox. Clint Zolnoski and Ryan Cordell got the biggest coyote – 31# 14oz. – and Bill and Brad Johnson won the littlest dog contest with a three-legged coyote. They had shot the leg off him last week or he might not have been the littlest when they put him out of his misery.

It is interesting to me that all these guys are either cowmen or have jobs in town - not a sheepman in the bunch, although I understand that there were a few competing.

Northern Rancher - you stuttering?

It's your fault. Where the heck were you? You might even have got by importing one of those big Canadian coyotes if it hadn't been dead long enough to cool off.

Does the wind ever blow up there?

Well we get the odd gust of hot air from the Big Muddy-it gets pretty brisk at times-Ty called in 3 on Saturday with a -35 windchill goin' on lol.
