Rock/Root Rake (new toy)

Per, what is the machine called that they use to build roads with in the oil patch. Hangs on a cat, has it's own engine on the other end of the dozer, crushes rocks, grinds wood, one pass and it's done. If I had a million to spare I'd buy one. :D

Might be a question for Silver. I have been out the the oil patch (at least in the bush) for several years. Sounds like some kind of unit though. If you had a few million to spare you could hobby ranch and do less work. I'd like to have a half dozen cows and no bull.

OK, lots of Bull but if you get those cows bred there is that pesky calving season that would be nice to avoid.

Finally got dry enough from the last snow to try out our new toy. Silver has probably seen a few of these as they are made in his area. Kind of "farmerized" but hell for stout. Tractor at 900 rpm and low gear. This ground should have been chiseled again but it is doing a good job as it is.

Hello, I picked up one of these Dika root rakes from a farmer I'm partnering with to develop my acreage. It sat for 15 years before and I've been having to source out parts, have some made, and am trying to get it operating. I'm dealing with a significant gear oil leak on the shaft. I've located a couple "compatible" options but I think I'm still missing something. This is the only place that seems to have some info about it and I'd be forever grateful if I could run a few questions by you.

I can't see how to upload a picture yet, just joined this site.

It's the part of the shaft that has the grease point. On that outer ring where the exposed shaft comes out, there is a spot that has 2 holes that look like something is supposed to hold the shaft in place? Perhaps another seal?

This s quite a old thread but Gcreek is still around some so he might be able to help you, Be patient, it's a lot quieter around here than it was back then,

As said this an old thread. Both Gcreek and Silver who were the main contributors to this thread are on Cattle Today fairly regular. Might be quicker to find them there and ask your questions.

You can click on either of these spots on your screen that the blue arrow points to and it should allow you to download a photo. Copy and paste will work also.
