As a young person what would it take and which road should I get on (college classes etc.)

I have never hearded cattle on horse back(yet :D ), but I do it a lot on foot, I do need more experience in the medical care.

I am 15, so it should be a while before I do start college except a few classes before I finish out of highschool

I'd hang around a few rodeos and see if I can get helping out a contractor but to be honest it's not really a line of work for the inexperienced-rodeo stock are big, fast and will hurt you. I'd try and tag along with somebody in the business and learn the ropes that way first.

oh thank you!

my grandparents know a few people and so does my dad and mom, so I should be able to get into contact with a few and see about something like tagging along helping and what not,

as for them hurting me, deffinatly, my dad would make me wear a helmet, but thats ok :D

thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it!

Wearing a helmet isn't everything-they are a whole different deal when it comes to handling. I'd start out loading calf roping calves and dogging steers and see how you like that-I'm serious about not getting hurt-they mean business and if you are inexperienced it can get bad real quick.

I know what ya mean,
I've only dealt with a few brahma's but mostly limousine's
deffinatly roping calves, I have actually started practicing!

thanks again for all of your good information!

oh and what else should I do to get more experience would you say?
I would really appreciate it :)

and I know one whose wife IS the business...he does all the PR and she does the work :)--- he smoozes and she pulls flanks and feeds bulls! :)
