?'s Regarding making branding iron and registration of brand

Forgive my ignorance regarding most of this but I'm a curious creature so must ask. I assume "blotting" is referring to the brand being uneven or having inconsistencies in the lines? I'm curious if it is caused where multiple lines intersect, the more extreme variances like in some symbols/ curves/circles or is it more due to flaws in the branding iron itself/inconsistent heat & uneven pressure or good ol' basic operator error?
😉🤭
A BLOTCH occurs when the critter moves while being burned or if its late in the day and you need your shot of whiskey. We are blessed with a simple brand ( mill iron quarter circle) and good branding help. In Nebraska, a brand registration lasts 5 yrs and costs $50 to renew. Dont be late to renew or you will lose it. A good low possibility BLOTCH brands are pricey at auctions. Most sell for over $1000.

If you just want a brand for decoration, dont worry about registering it.

We sold our C hanging C brand for $10,000. You need only one letter and you can cut a pipe and
make that work for a C.
I see brands in industry papers for sale for way more; some aren't very good brands unless, like you mentioned, they are wanted for decorative purposes only. I can't image putting some of those brands on a critter.
