Saddletramp had a great week-end

At the National Cowboy Poetry Rodeo held last week-end in Hot Springs, SD, Saddletramp hit the jackpot. He was entered up in four "events," and won two first places and two second places. He came home with a nice silver belt buckle and the trophy for the "All Around." Besides that, he won $1248 in prize money, and his bones don't ache from winning this rodeo. Being a modest fellow, he probably wouldn't put up any pictures or tell you all, so I will. :)

Congratulations Saddle Tramp!

Talent on display from a guy who knows what he's talking about. Besides that, he's a handsome devil.

Good job!

It could not have happened to a nicer guy. We're proud to know him and to have heard his poems straight from the poet's mouth.

Thank You Everyone......

I had a great time and it was a great experience. I entered Four events in the Rising Star division...Two poems that I wrote - serious and humorous. Then two poems that someone else wrote - serious and humorous. The next day you had to do it again with four different poems if you made it in the short go.

The thing that really was special to me was the three fellers that took first places in the four events were working cowboys that made their living on ranches and not poets that did this for their living.

Ken Cook from Martin, SD won a first , Slim Farnsworth from Crawford, CO, won another and I got two of them.

Thanks again everybody. :cboy:

"The BEST OF THE BEST"...now that is double awesome.
Congratulations, Saddletramp.

Would it be too much to ask for you to post at least one of the winning poems here for us to read?

And I went to the Devils Tower Cowboy Poetry Gathering on Labor Day. I bet I heard the same Slim there, as you mentioned here...would that be right? He was good!

Congratulations, Saddletramp! And thanks, Soapweed, for sharing the news and the pictures.

I heard that event advertised and it was painful that we couldn't get away to go listen to it!

Congratulations! Maybe you can put it up on Youtube, since that seems to be the thing to do nowadays.
