Do they love me 'cause I'm me, or because I bring them treats?
F1Hereford-Anguscrosscow.jpg

F1 Hereford/Angus cross cow that is twelve years old. She is home-raised and has stayed in the herd for a lot of years. She is just a little bit too tall and rangy to be an ideal cow, and is not a real easy keeper.
AnotherF1cowwithalongtoe.jpg

Another F1 cow that has a long toe.

AcowIlikebetterwithnoFsor1soreven.jpg

A cow I like better with no Fs or 1s or even any ears or tail. She has gotten along quite well without these beauty aids and always brings in a good big calf every fall.
Anothercowthathasstoodthetestoftime.jpg

Another cow that has stood the test of time, with a "7" year brand (born in 1997)
Shewillbethirteenyearsoldinthesprin.jpg

She will be thirteen years old next spring.
Allofthesecowsarecomingelevenorolde.jpg

All of these cows are coming eleven or older.

Cows like that beauty-challenged sister are why most of us love to run cattle! :D Hope she brings home a bunch more big calves for ya before she has to find the gate to the cull-pen. I smile at some of the posts always looking for perfection in style, conformation and backgrounds. And while quality will always beat inferior quanity in my book, this cow is living proof that catalog pictures and pulling out your hair looking for perfection may be a tad bit overated! She proves that the sum sometimes doesnt equal the parts! As always, great pictures! Hope ya enjoyed the social! Merry Christmas!

Are those the cows that are looking for a new home?

They are advertised, but I might have a chance to sell a couple hundred bred heifers. If this happens, I will probably keep the old cows for one more go-around. We have plenty of feed on hand--it is just ambition we are short of.

Hey Soap, if you'd like I could "store" those old gals for you and haul them to the salebarn for you some time next year. Heck, I wouldn't even charge you!

If you will feed them good, let me keep the calves, and allow me to have the cow check after you haul them to the sale barn, you've got yourself a deal. :-)

Conditions, conditions.....

For old cows, they look to be in pretty good shape. Do you have an advertised price on them?

I have priced my bred heifers for $1150. If they sell, I will keep the old cows. We have plenty of hay. Regardless, I think we'll hang on to them until closer to calving, and then see what happens.

Well I personally don't need any old cows (my herd gets old too fast the way it is), but I do know a couple people that are looking to buy some. Judging by their backs in that one picture, yours looked like they would hold up well.

I hope you get your heifers sold!
