word on the street is Lot 1 brought $400,000. 2/3 interest, no possession.

Yep-- Lot 2. $130,000, lot 9 $95,000, lot 14 $155,000, lot 18 $80,000.

Must be lots of moldy money floating around... I think Mohnens Lot 1 (that was one of their Denver bulls) sold for over $100,000 to Semax and some Australian investors if I remember right....I watched a little of it on DVD yesterday...

This morning on RFD-TV at San Antonio the Grand Champion STEER sold for $130,000 if I remember right...

Yeah maybe that's it-I knew it was in Texas somewhere- I just came in from feeding and caught a bit of it..Then it may have been Mohnens bull that brought $130,000 yesterday... You get up in those figures and my mind just doesn't comprehend $250/$300 lb beef...

Those buyers of the SAV bull are going to have to sell a lot of semen to make that investment pay off...

One of the other websites is reporting the SAV sale was 479 bulls that averaged $12,700...

Something that is kind of surprising lately is the number of bull/cattle sales on Sunday...I was just checking out DVD Auction- and see they have 4 sales tomorrow- including Sodak Angus, Reva, SD and Mrnak Herefords Bowman ND...

Update: AAA just posted on FB:

Angus Journal

Terry sent us word: Schaff Angus Valley sold 479 bulls for $6,093,750 to average $12,725.

Not a bad payday...

what is SAV's saying......"Affordable For The Commercial Cattlemen"

There was quite a selection of bulls for under 5000. We bought a nice cow bull for 3000 that will be a cheap insurance policy. I couldn't duplicate him for that from a breeder at home.

Not enough corn back home?

We have been very happy with the bulls we bought last year. I personally would rather buy these bulls and cross on our ohlde cows than a simmy or guppy bull. Provides more consistency. The body types are the same just difference in feeding philosophies. The schaff cattle get a bad rap for the way they feed but they still are working for us. I would also rather buy a cheaper bull up here than a bull from the guys at home that have cows that are all over the board genotypically and phenotypically.
