that you folks down Nebraska way already have an extra 3 minutes of daylight in the afternoon! We are measuring our extra afternoon daylight in seconds still. Day length here today is 6 hrs and 53 minutes. Looking forward to the days lengthening out, despite the old saying "As the days grow longer so the cold grows stronger".

50°F here today, and the coming week should be about the same. We missed the snow, but had almost 2 inches of rain last week. Western Nebraska had winter storm watches, and eastern Nebraska had flood watches, all on the same day.
Worked at the plant this weekend, 6am-6pm. Drive to & from work in the dark. Deliver feed in the dark while it's froze up some. Maybe Santa will bring me one of those miner's headlamps to wear? I could use one.

I envy your 50 degree weather, although it has been a rather balmy -22C here during the day (no idea what the foreignheight conversion is), minus 30C or so at night. The temp isn't what wears on a guy, the dark takes it's toll. Sadly, it will be Jan 3 or so before the sunrise comes any earlier.

Our kids got on the bus and off in the dark until after Mid winter break at the end of Feb., then they started getting on in the daylight.

I have one that has the battery on the back. 2 aa batteries will last for a lot of hours with a bright light. I use mine a lot in winter. Unlike flashlight, always have light right where you are looking. Check out the lumens, more is better, but uses up more battery
Also have some cheaper ones that have 3 aaa batteries in front, but not as bright and don't like extra weight on my forehead.

Do you use those rechargeable AA batteries? I use them in some flashlights and my little radio with earphones so I don't have to always be buying new batteries. No idea how they compare for the one time use batteries for power in a flashlight one uses for a longer time, but they sure seem to give bright light for around the house and last a long time in the radio. Just an idea that might help you, if you hate to go shopping as much as I do. I did buy a little battery tester so I could tell if the battery was worn out, or just needed charging. Those little batteries sure do last a long time, though. I've had some several years, and just keep recharging them.
