Selection works

They look like throwbacks to something. Are you sure they are Angus?

The one bull in the first pic looks like he has scurs to me.

He does for sure.

We spoke for a registered bull from a neighbor several years ago,
and when we went to pick him up. we noticed he has scurs. We declined
taking him. Some Angus do have scurs, like a Traveler line. I think it
was Traveler 722. Now I'm curious...have to go
look it up. It's certainly not a desireable trait.

P.S. Yes, Traveler 722 produced some offspring with scurs.

The neighbor bought them from one of the largest Angus breeders in the state that was just profiled on TV as having the most show wins of any breeder in the state.

They do not impress me but I will keep them for him till 4 July when he will turn them in. He declined to pay an extra $200.00 @ for registration. When he told me about the deal I was really excited for him as I thought he was really going to up grade his breeding program. When they came off the trailer I lost some of my excitement.

I hope they do well for him - - - He still wants me to use one myself - - - the jury is out on that decision.

Yes, one has scurs - - - I would not breed to him - - - they are all supposed to be half brothers to a bull that just took top honors at a Texas show.

I feel for their age they are to small ( although well fed ) and the hair just makes me think they should be in a colder climate. The bull shown on TV did not display the long hair but I'm sure they have good groomers!
