The new source of water is a welcome addition to the pasture.

Good timing on the purchase! I'd be tempted to cash in a few chips if not ALL my chips!!!

With prices where they are I'm tempted to sell out - - - but I like having them and I have never been accused of being smart. With only 18 cows I would not end up with a fortune and they are keeping me young.

My son sold his 20 bred cows and the hay equipment and bought 28 acres of good tillable ground. But he does not like caring for animals and his father-in-law is renting the pasture - - - I feel it was the best all around!

Nice post and pics. Having riders working the cattle sure looks good. We are doing more and more pen work with horses. Funny how we used to round up the cattle with horses and then work them on foot after they were corralled. Now we round them up with whatever but work them in the corrals almost totally with horses. A lot less stressful for both man and beast. Also I'm almost useless on foot any more lol.

None of my business but I am curious what you have into them after purchasing them and the care for 9 months. I'm sure it will be very profitable this year for you if you were to sell them. Not sure I would want to buy them though, for what they are worth.

I'm going to buy my neighbors open heifers this week add them to mine and feed them out. Should make some money with all my cheap feed, in theory anyway. :D
