Gave a open cows to my Church. Some help kill her last week. to day in our ranch shop crew trimmed ,cut and I ground her they package and delivered her to 18 families in less then 2 hours..
The Sask Stockgrowers have a "Beef Drive" on now where you can donate a cow or cash to be ground into hamburger for the Food banks. Two smaller packers, one in Swift Current and one in Weyburn are doing the processing at a discount.
We do some of that when something comes up stifled or crippled. The value at the sale barn is minimal but the feeling of finding a good alternative to help someone is pretty high. I like "Selling High" over selling low any day.
That's great! Direct charity is about only kind I trust, anymore. And if you can figure out how to help somebody---who really needs it---and stay incognito---!
