People in the southeast are interested in buying cattle from us; we're in Washington state. I've never used a shipping company, and they don't know anything about it either. Can anyone advise me on where to begin looking? Thanks!

Southeasten US....from Washington state?????

Ohhhhh...somebody gonna spend a small, no a big fortune on just shipping!!!!!!

uh oh, that's what I was afraid of. no, probably won't be any fortunes spent on cattle either, if that's the case.

Emma, I sent you PM, but not sure if it went thru, these guys are good, and go all over

Lathrop is GREAT!

We use a crew from North Platte NE as it's in between here and Oregon for us.

I'll see if I can scare up their name.

I've heard a lot of haulers want a greater percentage up front now....so if money like that is gonna be a problem for you....plan ahead!!!

You wouldn't want someone just to dump your critters out and forget them on somebody else a long way from home...so be sure you get someone you can trust.

You're right about that! Thanks for any & all advice. I just spoke with the man and he really wants a bull sooo...I'm going to have to get educated about shipping.

I recommended Lathrop Trucking to a potential buyer in Louisianna, he wants one bull, but they're not returning his calls.

Can anyone recommend another livestock shipper he might be able to make arrangements with?

Thanks!

Collect him and ship it UPS via liquid nitrogen.
Be cheaper.

I agree, although I'd dearly like to sell this bull I'm not sure why people go to such an expense to get one when AIing is such an easy option. Fortunately, people still want natural service for their cattle. Maybe he intends to collect the bull himself and market it?

Your problem is going to be played out over and over in other sections of our economy as well. The added shipping costs are just going to make some items economically unfeasible to ship long distances. This will lead us back to the past where more product (not just ag, but certainly ag included) will be produced and consumed locally. The days of the 2000 mile Caesar salad are coming to an end.
