Hip Replacement TOTAL costs in Thailand is just over $18,000.00.

Average cost in the USA is around $75,000.00.

The difference? Gov't regulations of course!

Plus, care, quality, & services are better in Thailand. They aim to please. They're in competition with the rest of the world..............................

So the doctor's fees are approximately the same here as in Thailand and are negligible when comparing costs???

Doctors fees in the US are driven by numerous factors.. such as insurance and regulations..

due to the complexity of insurance and government payments most doctors now have to contract out the billing,..

add in office staff and other overhead and it would be a miracle if there wasn't a huge difference in the doctors fees..

"HIT" costs will be $50,000.00 to $100,000.00 for each doctor. That's mandated for 2014.

Health Information Technology.

Costs are adding up..........................................

So which of these factors are absent in Thailand (and I'm sure some are)? No insurance as some have suggested-each pays their bill prior to seeing the doctor or dies possibly????Or there are no gov't regulations limiting doctors to do what they want, even if it is an experimental procedure? Surely these doctors have an office staff,of course the staff could all be living in the same apartment, now that would help with the overhead. Steve are you sure most here contract out the billing.... you might be right but I can only tell you that where my wife works (she's a nurse) they don't, and have files on 22,000 patients, some of whom I'm sure are deceased but the vast majority wouldn't be. Maybe we could use a few pointers from the Thai doctors. Interesting discussion.
