Shorthorn cattle pictures (lots)

wow,those are some large cows and are carry'n some nice dinner plates for their young,,

the largest cow i ever seen was come'n at me down the middle of the road at about midnite one nite.we found the owner and was able to get her in but she would have made a large hood ornament on a little ford taurus!

and she was red.
 
We don't ever weigh our cows but the ones pictured here probably range from 1400 lbs to 1800 lbs. I personally would like to have the average cow in the herd weigh 1300-1400 lbs, but if a cow can maintain body condition, rebreed, and wean an acceptable calf on the forage our ranch grows, then we don't worry to much about frame size. In our opinion frame size becomes a problem when supplemental feeding is required to maintain an acceptable level of production. Around here the hard do-ers cull themselves.
