Signs of spring

Yesterday cows were happily grazing banked grass now the snow is soft enough to get to it.

Today the Robins showed up in spite of the winter storm.

No difference Faster. I have never seen so many Robins, there must have been 30 of them. Usually get see only a few.

Great shots per, I envy you your birds of spring. So far we are making do with the not so pleasant songs of the magpie and raven :?

We've been blessed with the return of crow and starling.
 
Robins, killdeer, and red-wing blackbirds are back. A turkey buzzard stopped by to see what was on the menu this past week, unfortunately, he found some beef . . . the tundra swans are finding lots of water in their favorite spring runoff ponds this past week as well.

per, you sure are hanging on to your snow there. Ours is mostly gone again but I got this feeling that we still haven't seen the last of it.
 
A real sure sign of spring in this country is when the indians come down off the Rez dragging their space heaters to the pawn shops.

Haven't seen that sign yet.

We're having a nice little snowstorm at the moment.
 
Those spring birds I mentioned earlier? Well they are all seeking shelter from our latest bout of winter . . .

The ground was pretty well bare today but now it's white again. Won't last too long though!

We had snow last night....hmmm or maybe it was blown in from parts unknown. Dont know which. It had been in the 80's the last couple days now this ok I am ready for summer.

Swap you some magpies for a few Canadian Geese or some Junko's.
Not many magpies here and I do miss them. I have one that hangs around here for a few days in September.
Red winged black birds are back and I have one Varied Thrush thats at the feeder. Seen a Robin on the other side of the lake last week.

You are welcome to ALL our magpies. I try to shoot all I can but they tend to be extremely elusive and clever. They tend to nest all around the house, and when we have magpies we have zero songbirds.
