Never have seen anything like it. From the last time I unrolled bales on snow (about two weeks ago) until I could feed the cows on bare, dry ground was a total of ONE week!

I fed them in feeders for about 1 week until the mud dried up and I could resume feeding on the ground.

We usually get at least a month of mud from now until calving is about half done. So far, we have had zero rain and the ground is dry enough that anyone who sows grain is at it already.

That's just weird. Scary dry, really.

So maybe my "calving in the mud" concerns were for naught!

We were getting bare dry patches til winter returned last week. Now we have to start all over again melting the 8" we accumulated over the last few days. Supposed to be really warm going forward so we'll see what happens.

It's frozen rock hard. :?

It was plumb frosty this morning...Temp around 24- few snowflakes coming down-hazy and cloudy- and 20-25 mph east wind....Then about 2PM the sun broke thru- temp went up 40 and it didn't feel quite so bad...

Weather boys are predicting 60's for the weekend- and near 70 for Monday....
Only mud we have is in the coulees and low spots where there is still a little runoff...

72 degrees in the land of the crackers. Grass enough for the cows to graze down low. Its goin to rain tonight. I got a round bale out for a week now. Its half ate. I might have to burn it. Horses loosin there winter coat and startin to slick off to. Sorry yall lol. And oh yea got about 70 calfs on the ground and *round 30 more to go.
