Since the other horse is out of action with his back I stepped up on my other horse for the first time.
All I can say about him is WOW!
That is the smoothest riding horse I ever rode. He can turn on a dime and leave you sitting on nothing. :D He about slid me out of the saddle on that first turn, even at a walk.
I just rode him around the corral for a short time just getting use to him and letting him get to know me.

Now I have to let him think for 24 hours before getting back on him. Let him make up his mind. That's just the way he is, crazy horse.

No Kola. This is my 4yo Morgan.
When he was at the trainers last year, they would teach him something new and let him think about it for 24 hrs. Then he would do it like he had done it for his whole life.
It was just to let him "think" about me riding him.
That is just him.

He is a super sensitive horse. My hubby smacked him with a rope one day and you could tell that it hurt his feelings. No kidding.
He is ready to do anything for you if you just give him a chance.

This is him with my son riding him. They were doing pretty well until my son's horse got jealous and started chasing them around the corral.

My hubby would have to explain the 6" Made In USA mark on his forehead. My cast iron skillet works wonders.
Since it was not within reach that day he got his ears blistered and discovered the extent of my volcabulary skills.

I have to get a different bit for him. The one he has now slips into his mouth on the sides.
The horse not the hubby.

Well Kola where to begin.
Let's start with his first horse, Chester. (Not the daughters horse by the same name.)
Hubby bought this horse as a weanling from some friends. The horses these people raise would be better in a bucking string then as working cow horses.
This horse is aggressive, hard headed, and hard to handle. If I had been around when he first thought of buying a horse I would have not let him buy this one. He has not improved with age.
I cannot even count how many times this horse has thrown my husband. Too dang many would be a close guess.

Now entering into the picture comes a "broke" horse named, Buddy.
We bought him for our son to ride, he was 5 yo gelding. Came across as pretty well mannered. I still wonder if the seller had sedated the bugger.
Turned out he was foundered, badly and had a "make me" attitude.
He threw my husband at our friends place onto a hard packed dirt and rock road. He busted about 3 or 4 ribs on one side.

Later on he rode a couple of horses that our friends own, Jade and Buck. Only one name matched the horse correctly. Both threw him off and onto the same side that he broke those ribs on. At different times.
You would think he would know to stay off of those horses that these people own.

In between times his is still getting tossed off by his horse Chester. I still dislike that horse, but he loves him. Don't ask me why I don't know.

What finally finished him off was that 25 yo mare we were given last fall for our daughter. The one that dumped him after another horse barreled into her. He landed on the bad rib side and he was done for good.

I can't say he hates horses. he does like them. He is just now concerned that if he takes another hard hit in a fall from a horse on those ribs he is done for. As many times as he has injured those ribs it won't take much to send a piece through his lung or heart. He doesn't want to take the chance of leaving our kids and myself alone with out him.
I have asked him to step up on my new horse, because he is very sensitive and is very in tune with the rider. He won't do it though.

Personally speaking I believe that if he had first bought a really good broke horse as his first horse a lot of this might not have happened.
