I think this is our third snow of the year and I can't remember us ever getting three snow falls in one year. I guess it is making up for lost time since we haven't had a snow fall in two or three years.

A Winter Storm Watch in effect from Tuesday morning through
Tuesday evening...

The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has issued a
Winter Storm Watch... which is in effect from Tuesday morning
through Tuesday evening.

A vigorous upper level disturbance will approach southeast Texas on
Tuesday. This system will bring a variety of winter weather to the
region. Rain will develop Tuesday morning and quickly change over
to snow north of a Caldwell to Trinity line. Areas north of a
Brenham to Livingston will have rain mixed with snow through early
afternoon before temperatures will be cold enough to support all
snow. Snow will persist through Tuesday evening and end between 6
and 10 PM Tuesday evening.

Accumulations will vary greatly depending on where the heavier
snow bands become established. At this time... it appears that 2 to
4 inches of snow will accumulate from Madisonville to Crockett
with some heavier totals possible.
North of a Brenham to
Livingston line... expect 1 to 3 inches of snow. Further
south... an inch or two of snow will be possible south of the watch
area and a Winter Weather Advisory may be required later.

This is a developing winter weather situation and if temperatures
are slightly cooler or slightly warmer than forecast could have
tremendous implications on where snow falls and how much will
accumulate.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

I live in between Madisonvlle and Crockett.

The bad thing is our pastures was just starting to really green up with Spring grasses and now this. GLOBAL WARMING WHERE ARE YOU? O wait its in Washington DC coming out of our President mouth.

It's from hanging out at these sale barns. Old ranchers and Obama don't mix down here. If he step into a sale barn they might sell him to, but no one would bit on him I bet.

BHO don't mix well with anyone who works for themselves. Congrats on the moisture, even if it is in the frozen form. It's been snowin' here since wednesday... supposed to get another 8" through today. 8)

Well I'm bettin if we do get any....it'll be while I'm asleep in bed, and it's not supposed to be anything but mixed rain/snow with little to no accumulation. So prolly won't even see it if it does it. And what I don't see....is for the better LOL

Forecast for this week has really gone downhill compared to what they were callin for last week. But...I did however see two pear trees in full bloom yesterday, and the elm trees on the creek are leafin out. So there is a light at the end of the tunnel. :D Next it'll be redbuds and the dogwoods!

I guess the cold air thats coming got the hogs moving today. We caught one today thats about 200-250 lbs. This thing is huge, I think I will fed-ex him to Jiggs so he can eat some of that good old Kansas corn and dig him a good size pond. :wink

No kidding they were all over my rye grass pasture yesterday afternoon. I had to drop a couple of them to get my point across.

atleast we will have some good moist ground for the spring grass to grow in.

Yes we will have that.

Every time we've gone out to put out hay for the cows this last week....I've smelled hogs. Haven't seen any...but they are definately there. Then yesterday, I seen where we had fresh hog roots.

Mr Lilly thought for a long time when I'd tell him I could smell em....that I was nuts. He now knows to listen to me. There's been a couple times that I've said it...then we see em before the words are outta my mouth good. Trinity....have you smelled em? Like a kinda sick sweet smell...??? (it's not the normal domestic hog in a pen smell)

I've got a friend whose son works for the state of Colorado. He shoots a lot coyotes from an airplane. Last week he said his son was shooting hogs in eastern Colorado! I had no idea that they would be that for north. They must be tough suckers.

We have wild boar causing quite a problem in lots of parts of Saskatchewan. Tough to get rid of cause they are smarter then most of the hunters. :)
