We ll I guess the snow storm is here cant see much farther than a half mile already and it keeps getting worse. Now there talking we could get up to 30 cm (12") of snow.... :roll: in the next 24-36 hrs. Guess we ll see how it plays out. Dont mind the snow but the wind could surely stay away!!
 
We're in the middle of a doozy of one, too. Started out early this morning, and has got progressively worse all day. Yard's all blowed in, it's 4X4 time now! Thank goodness we got the cows hauled home yesterday! Of course, the house furnace knew this blizzard was coming before we did, it broke down Saturday night. Husband went to town this morning, got parts, and has it going again. I still like wood heat better, so I have just finished bringing up two calf sleds full of wood. They say it's supposed to storm all night, and most of tomorrow. It's pretty widespread. It wouldn't be so bad if the darn wind wasn't from the east! Our yard is open on the east side, and that wind howling up against the house sure keeps me feeding the woodstove alot.

Just remember- that howlin wind, blowin snow, and 20 Below temps is what keeps the riffraff out... I always chuckle when they announce the attendance at football games and sporting events- and its bigger than the population of our biggest "city" in the state.... :wink: :lol:
 
Its pretty wild here. Its snowing pretty heavy and the east wind is just a howlin. Good nite to stay inside. We just finished moving abunch of cows and calves up to the pens where there is windbreak. They ve got lots of straw in the pen and we feed them with the bale shredder in there. But there are still the old faithful Angus who are standing out in the blowing snow eating hay. Heard on the radio there was a few semis jack knifed on the highway ... wonder how long before they close it?
 
I'm in SE North Dakota. We were under a winter storm watch, but it's been called off, now a freezing rain advisory. Roads did slick up a bit, but not bad.
Sorry to hear of my northern neighbors having snowstorm, but I guess that's the way of life in the Northland.
They can keep Hawaii!!!

Big Muddy- It looks like you are very close to the heavy area of the Snow Warning...I'd gladly let it go north and east of me so you can have the winter fun :lol: ...I was going to haul some culls to the sale Wed- may postpone another week as they're saying Tues night and Wed could be 20 Below or colder ...I hauled out and stacked some bales in the yard, so I have a little easier access if the stackyards blow in...So I guess I'm as prepared as I can get.... :? East wind went down to almost nothing- but now its picking up out of the NW- about 20mph and snow flurries- 8 degrees....

This storm started last night and had already dumped quite a bit of snow by daylight.......East winds were piling it into drifts. Snowed heavy all day and have at least 10 inches on the level. Wind dropped this afternoon so we were able to rebed all the feedlot pens before dark. Had quite a few cows come in to the windbreaks for shelter but they headed back out when they heard the tractor start.......musta figured there was more feed going out to the feedground! At least the temp. moderated.......all the way up to 10 degrees Fahrenheit.......altho the bottoms supposed to fall out for the rest of the week and flurries are forecast for everyday! A little global warming about now would feel kinda good :!: :lol:
 
Keepin the rif raf out is right. Have visited Montana in the fall and would love to move there to ranch if it wasn't for the winter.

After growing up in the South where we think its awfull if we get two nights in a row below 32 I don't think I could handle one of y'alls winters.

By the way, it was 74 here today.

A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM CURRENTLY OVER WYOMING IS FORECAST TO TRACK NORTHEASTWARD AND INTENSIFY OVER SOUTHEASTERN MANITOBA BY LATE TUESDAY. THIS LOW WILL BRING PLENTY OF WINTRY WEATHER TO MUCH OF THE PROVINCE OVER THE NEXT 24 TO 36 HOURS. SNOW AND POSSIBLE FREEZING RAIN WILL AFFECT PARTS OF SOUTHEASTERN MANITOBA, WHILE HEAVY SNOWFALL WILL AFFECT AREAS FARTHER NORTH AND WEST. SNOW HAS ALREADY BEGUN OVER SOUTHWESTERN MANITOBA AND THIS SNOWFALL WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD NORTH AND EAST THROUGH TONIGHT REACHING THE RED RIVER VALLEY OVERNIGHT. AS OF 9 PM BRANDON RECEIVED 4 CM WHILE DAUPHIN HAS REPORTED 1 CM. SNOW WILL CONTINUE TUESDAY, HEAVY AT TIMES OVER WESTERN MANITOBA AND THE INTERLAKE REGIONS. UP TO 25 CM OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS BY TUESDAY NIGHT WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS IN EAST-FACING SLOPES OF THE RIDING MOUNTAINS AND THE MANITOBA ESCARPMENT. FURTHER EAST SNOWFALL AMOUNTS WILL LIKELY BE LESS..PERHAPS 10 TO 15 CM IN THE RED RIVER VALLEY INCLUDING WINNIPEG. BRISK EAST TO NORTHEAST WINDS TONIGHT AND TUESDAY WILL COMPOUND THE SNOW WITH LOCALLY POOR VISIBILITIES AT TIMES IN BLOWING SNOW. OVER SOUTHEASTERN MANITOBA SNOW WILL LIKELY MIX WITH OR CHANGE TO FREEZING RAIN BY TUESDAY AFTERNOON. THE EXACT LOCATION OF THE FREEZING RAIN IS CURRENTLY UNCLEAR, BUT AT THIS TIME IT APPEARS THAT AREAS SOUTH AND EAST OF WINNIPEG MAY EXPERIENCE SOME FREEZING RAIN TUESDAY. A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THESE AREAS FOR THAT POSSIBILITY. IN BEHIND THIS SYSTEM, WINDS WILL INCREASE AND SWING AROUND TO THE NORTH TUESDAY NIGHT AND TEMPERATURES WILL FALL. THIS COMBINATION WILL LIKELY BRING AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES TO SOUTHERN MANITOBA TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY.

I'll take the snow any day over freezing rain! I don't like the east wind though. :( We'er already way ahead of Brandon for snowfall, so it'll be interesting to see how it adds up tomorrow. Could be digging the skis out of the old granary and knocking the dust off them. :D

Or tomorrow could be a good cookie baking day....... :D

Got about 6" overnight and today. Winds blowing from the north and -21.
with that wind it feels cold enough to freeze the nuts off a bridge.
Glad we are in the bannana belt!

Where we are we ve got a lot more than Brandon also. Its been snowing heavy since about 5 this afternoon. Be interesting to see how it looks tomorrow morning.
 
Y'all just keep that stuff east, ok? I finished off the weekend with only 70 stinkin' bales left to haul, and I left a couple hundred rowed out in the meadow close to where the cattle are currently wintering. We get another foot of snow, they'll be trudging into the pens looking for a better place to lay their heads and I'm simply not ready to start bedding down in pens yet :(
