Snow vehicle concept from 1924

i've never been a fan of snowmobiles, but that one looks kinda fun.

I thought it would be pretty handy myself. I know two facts about snowmobiles.

They will go far enough in an hour that you can't walk back in a day WHEN it breaks down.

They were originally made for drunks to have a reason to go out and get fresh air.

i guess there was a few days when i was a fan of those machines...when i was in college we got snowed in our apt. for about 4 days, snow was measured in ft. anyways, we found a guy with a snowmobile and he made several trips uptown for us....we needed beer, and coundn't get our vehicels out. thank god for snowmobiles

All I keep thinking is where can I find one, and what are the pontoon/tracks made out of? If they were rubberized, you'd think it could float in water too. Now that would be cool - you could ice fish off of it and not have to worry about falling through!

What's the deal? Great technology........and (IMHO.....good video marketing.....ahead of it's time there also)........

So......WHY.....wasn't this a commercial success? Interested in opinions/ideas?

I agree!

If the pontoons/screws were made of the right stuff, they would be very buoyant.
