Wow, it is really snowing outside with Winter Storm Watch still posted.
28 degrees with no wind, though, so that is a blessing. Lots of moisture with this storm. Good luck to all that are calving in this.

For some reason, our cows shut 'er down when we get a storm.
Believe it or not, it is true, and we have noticed this for quite
awhile now. Seems storms kick other folks cattle into calving
harder, but not ours.

It has got to be that Vigortone mineral.

We sure had a nice rain the past couple days. I dumped out 1.75 inches last night, thinking it might get cold enough to freeze and break the rain guage. It only got down to 32 degrees, and rained more during the night. This morning there was another four tenths of an inch in the guage, making the grand total of 2.15" out of this rain event. We are pickled tink. :-)

Vigortone, vigortone,
It's the mineral you can depend upon.
Turns your cows from red to black,
Once you buy it you'll never go back.

Gets rid of ringworm
And anything bad,
Even make you happy
When you're feelin sad.

But the Best of all
It cuts your worries in half.
When the weathers bad
Your cows don't calf!

So don't be a fool
Get yourself on the phone
Call Faster Horses
And get yourself some.. Vigortone!

Just spoofing FH, This popped into my head when I read Soapweeds remarks.
Pretty happy around here as we got a couple inches of desperately need moisture also. Sure filled in the cracks around here, but no runoff. Will really get the grass going now when it warms up again.

Glad to hear that there is some significant moisture arriving in several areas that needed it badly. Not the most pleasant for calving, especially the wintery stuff, but wet is wet.

Good day!

Heck I bet the "Jingle " ends up on road signs all across the WEST.

I'm still laughing about your jingle.
That was great.

And yep, we are all happy with the moisture.
Are you getting some, BMR?

Yep we got some rain Sunday night and some rain/snow on Wednsday. propably three quarters of an inch all told. Things are froze up here this morning and not thawing very fast this afternoon. Pens are sure sloppy.

We got another couple of inches of snow last night, but we STILL have a good 1.5 to 2 feet still on the level anyways!!!
Someone remind me when was spring suppost to happen.

Oh well at least we didn't have any 75 to 80 temps and then to have snow again, I don't think I could handle that. :o

Pics off my deck this morning...

It has been foggy and drizzling here for a couple days. We have had thick fog all day. When I went to school this morning, it was raining too. At about 9:30 it started to pour. I was in English and heard it, then looked out the window and it was raining like a son of a gun. It only lasted for 10 minutes or so.
Good luck to all of you guys who are calving. We penned up the first cow last night. No baby yet.

Catch ya later,
MN Farm Girl

Great to hear you have gotten moisture, FH and BMR. I hope Tap is surviving this storm ok.

We got mostly rain, with a little ice (about 1/4") and a little snow. All in all I bet we got over 2 inches of moisture. Maybe closer to 2 and 1/2"!!!!

A mostly snow event is suposed to move in Monday and Tuesday.

I have never been so thankful for moisture my entire life.

Thank you Lord!

Cheers---

TTB

Good for you TTB!!!!! I looked at the radar this early am and it looked like you were getting some moisture. I was afraid to ask just in case it was missing you. Glad to hear the good news!!!
