Pretty sad pair of parents!! I approach the drinking rule as a performance/role model issue-I'm not going to delude myself that five teenage boys will never have a drink ever but on rodeo weekends they are role models for the wrangler kids. I also point out that if you can't ride a horse sober you sure won't get by him with a hangover. We rodeo every weekend so they are pretty much teetolers even when not at highschool rodeos. That boy would of done himself and others a world of good if he'd of manned up and took his punishment.

The story just keeps going. Evidentally they are gonna sue the association for not letting him compete in nationals. Now all the kids going will get around 1200 to go on instead of the 2000 they were gonna get.

I wonder how the parents look anyone in the eye?

Yes in Nebraska anyway. Each contestant usually gets 2000 dollars but due to the hupla now they are looking at around 1200.

The association does fund raising activities throughout the year one being selling calendars with the winners of the events at state's pictures on them. It's mandatory that each member sell so many calenders.

Ty and Austin have just been riding in every rodeo they can find lol. Ty had a good day won a rodeo and picked up second at another-his second horse run off like a coyote. Austin picked up a second too so the boys had a good day.

I'm dissapointed in the adults that let this rule slide...the judge or whoever is in charge should of stuck to their guns and stood their ground when it came to the disicpline rules, no matter what kind of trouble the parents caused. I for one, would of been way harder on my kid than any highschool rule ever was...!

I see on the tentative draw for Farmington (National High School Finals) that he is not mentioned so something must have changed. I agree with Jassy. We told our kids that not getting to rodeo, play basketball, volleyball, football, or whatever, would be the least of their worries if they got in trouble with the law or if we caught them drinking or doing something they weren't suppose to do.

I gotta speak up here.
If these kids were drinking they should face the full repercusion of the rules. I agrre with you all on this.

I do have one wrinkle. Some people I know were at a fair and the kids were showing cattle. Well the father sent his son to go to his friends stall and pick up some grooming supplies he had loaned to these other kids earlier. His son had barely gotten to the other stall and the friends were drinking. Almost immediately after his arrival the authorities arrived also.
Well the son got an MIP couldn't show or sell even though everyone vouched for him. I think I would have fought this. All I am saying is be careful and don't rush to judgemnent
