You get the feeling that Rosenblatt Stadium wasn't quite ready to give up the spotlight. She hasn't asked a lot from people over the years. She has graciously hosted the College World Series, several minor league teams and various other baseball teams for some 60 years. She has also hosted a few football games, more than her share of concerts and even a few weddings.

On this particular night – which would turn out to be her final night in the national spotlight – she asked fans to stick around for a couple of extra innings because she had something special in mind for them and she delivered. She didn't deliver a win for one team or another, but she delivered a classic game that CWS fans will always remember – a game in which South Carolina defeated the UCLA Bruins 2-1 to win the national championship.

With one out in the bottom of the 11th inning and the score tied 1-1, South Carolina right fielder Whit Merrifield singled to right field, driving in Scott Wingo for what turned out to be the final run scored in CWC competition at Rosenblatt Stadium.

I've been to many games at "The Blatt", college and the Royals. I still can't believe that they're abandoning the ballpark.

It is indeed a great event to be watching, it is really worth of our time watching the event as it is the day, the moment that South Carolina won and broke the chicken curse, or what they might be calling it. This game is indeed special I must say. And it is as good as it meets up to expectations at this level. And they showed the world how is tournaments are supposed to be played.

why tear down a nice ballpark with such history?? the Jerry Jones ideas of stadiums will end an era of fun and fair priced entertainment for families.....
