They're moving out even more  -- two were killed last year in Montana- one near Hysham (near Billings) and the other over in Central Montana in the Lewistown area- and both of them had been tagged as young cats in the Black Hills area of SD....
They say young males will travel 100's of miles looking for a new territory....
QUESTION said:More has come out about this cat - the collar also had a gps unit in it so the SDSU will now be able to follow the direct path of the cat until it's untimely demise. As well the SERM officers have known this animal has been in and around saskatoon for more than a week. The property owner where the cats was shot thought the animal shot not have been shot. I guess he just doesn't understand this animal has become acclimatized to living among humans. So if tranquilized what could be done? the cat isn't afraid of people or entering a city. so what could be done if he were live captured? If released far far away he most probably find his way back to a urban setting not so safe for people. As for putting him in a zoo or preserve i feel that is even more inhumane. So putting the animal down was best for everybody- people and the cat.
