Speaking of hats ...
You may have discussed it before I got on the scene...but my HATE version of hats is the West Texas and Eastern NM version of the straw that showed up a few years ago that we call the TACO HAT --
They may try to tell me it's got a function but I can't get past the ugly to decide ..

I have never been so drunk as to wear a hat like the first one...........I think I would rather rope in a pair of pink speedos before I wore a hat like that.

Hey those hats might just fit on my head! Good to see there are oversided models for those who are cranium challenged :)

Do you think there are any with a square hole instead of a round one? Hard to fit a square head into a round hat

LOL, I crack myself up!!!!

Is it a coincidence there is hat company ad/banner on the bottom of this thread?? :)

EDIT:

never mind it moved on to something else...made me laugh though!

I can just see you, walkin around with that big ole hat with a patty on your head, smellin like the "real deal" ..............good luck

3 points:

1) If it ain't felt, it ain't a hat!

2) If they are to keep the sun off, why roll them up?

3) If the brim is too big for the wind, use a smaller brim.

I understand up in the cold country where a felt hat would be your "most of the time hat" but down here in the south, it's the opposite. Straw hats are worn most of the year, and felt is reserved for cool weather months.

Same here Lilly, but there are some that can wear felt hats year round without tipping over. I'm not one of them.
As to the first pic, it so reminds me of one of those huge foam rubber 'cowboy' hats that are about three feet from front to back, so the whole pic looks like a little kid stealing a ride on a yearling horse with his foam hat on.
The second hat I don't mind, but we'd take flight in this country if you found a way to keep it attached to your head!

Lilly...when summer hits greg changes to a straw hat, very few you see in a felt hat once summer hits here.

In the olden days the rule used to be straw hats after Memorial Day changing back to felt hats after Labor Day. IMO it's straw hats when it's warm, felt hats when it's cold whatever the date may be.

Might make a new TV series similar to 'The flying nun' (now i'm dating myself). We wore either felt hat (without the fake leopardskin band) or cotton hats similar to those worn by cricketers or the military.

Man...the fake leopard band made them hats looks all " Daktari"-ish and kinda cool!!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

LOL, one of the guys that told me the "felt hat" line was from Southern Nevada, and the other was from NE New Mexico. They both wore them year round. Of course, they didn't much like chinks, either.

I've heard tell them TACO get hats get shaped that way because there's too many of them ridin' in the cab at one time, squashed together. When they get out the hats just retain the shape.
