And was the little guy in the path of the cutter and you just happened to see him?

Aren't you afraid of the reprucusions from BM with the little ol' buck?

Awwwwwwwwwwww now that's cute!!!!!! Whatja do with him? Put him back? I'd be worried I'd come back and rake over him

Good lookin bunch of cane Haymaker......when I first read the title of your thread.......it made my mouth water thinkin about cane for syrup makin.......I knew it wasn't that kinda cane.....but was the first thing that went thru my mind. I sure do miss makin syrup. One of these days tho, I hope to get a new crop started, and get the syrup mill set back up that belonged to Mr Lilly's grandparents.

Ahhh, I knew you was a good feller.

It looks awesome down your way Haymaker. Now THAT is a good producing field. Years ago I cut some cane with a pull type swather up closer to the ND border. The tops of the cane was as high as the top of the 930 Case in a few low spots. Second gear was about as fast as it would go through the conditioner.

How big of a MoCo is that? About what kind of tonnage do you expect that will make? Looks real good down there.

Its a 488,has 9' cut,I found out the hard way.........you dont want one with more cut than that on some of these heavy cane type grasses,we have a 499 that stays parked.
Im hoping the cane fields make around 3 tons/acre.................good luck

how long will that stuff take to cure out? We use 16' and 18' MoCos and it would take atleast a week to cure out that cane.

Around here it depends on the humidity, usually about 5 days...........good luck

Could you tell me some more about that cane, like feeding it, # cuttings, does it come back every year? How good of feed is it?

Its good feed,I like it better than the fine stem grasses,so do cattle.
you have to plant it every year, you can get more than one cuttin, depends on the weather,It makes enough tonnage,I let my cows graze it after I bale..................good luck
PS baled today, few pictures of it,117 4x51/2 bales off 16 acre field
