Stock Tank Heater

Does anyone have the design/pattern/photo for a stock tank heater that burns wood, coal or corn cobs?

My brother tells me that our father had one in the 60's. I would like to have one built.

It would be nice to have one burning tonight, could be 25 below....

I've got a couple, might take me a day or so find them since they are probably snowed under. Had to use coal in cold weather since wood wouldn't put out enough heat long enough to last all night.

Used to work for a guy that had a stock tank heater that used diesel and used oil to keep the water open. Just had a burn chamber below water level with a snorkel for air. The fuel tank had a valve which allowed a steady drip, drip, drip to keep the flame going. Sometimes ice would form on the far edge but around the heater for 5 feet or so it was open.

i built one out of a 55 gal barrel a few years ago for a small water tank,i bolted it to the tank,put some rocks in the bottom and a steel tube down the side on the inside ,the tube has a bunch of holes in it for air to circulate,i burned cut up pallets from a buisness in town,they were mostly oak pallets,when it was really cold i would throw old inner tubes and chunks of tires in it,water was toasty warm,the rocks would get warm and hold the heat with the ashes on top
