Found this on another website. Absolutely terrible that it happened.

When we had the ranch in NE something like this happened to one of our managers. He had 2 super bred/working dogs and they loved to lay in his pickup truck bed. The truck was in his yard & next to our main office bldg and someone somehow stole his 2 dogs.

He was never able to find them. It was like loosing a member of the family cause these dogs went everywhere with him, even to the Koloa Club!!!

That is some sorry trash to take dogs like that!!

I"m glad the dogs were found, but they should have done a write up on that...instead of just deleting the whole story, and changin the title page. Uhg...I didnt get to read the story that was there the first time...started to, but got busy doin somethin and just now gettin back to it.....

Prime example...of you snooze you loose I guess huh LOL

They were down at the NWSS because Mr. Chant is the director of the cattledog trial that was held there the 19th. There rig was stolen from the hotel they were at. They were inside checking out letting the rig warm up and when his wife went to put some stuff in the rig, they couldn't find it. Absolutely terrible, but so glad the dogs are back to their owners. As the owners said, the dogs are irreplacable, we can get a new truck.

I'll try to find out the details of how they were found.

ADAMS COUNTY - Four missing prize dogs were found inside their owners' stolen truck on Monday night.

The dogs were found on East 40th Circle near Pena Boulevard inside the stolen gray Ford 350 Crew Cab Dualie.

The truck was stolen from Ramada Plaza at 120th Avenue and I-25 on Sunday morning.

The four prized Border Collies were in cages in the back of the truck.

The owners of the dogs are from Wyoming and went to pick them up on Monday night after they were found.

Aurora Police say all four were in excellent condition.

Police believe the media attention to the case forced the criminals forced to abandon both the dogs and the truck.

Hi, the_jersey_lilly_2000,

I understand that you were frustrated by the story being taken down, but since I'm the one who did it I thought I'd offer a quick explanation - there were two major considerations:

First, when I received the news that the dogs had been found safe I literally was on my way out the door for a business trip. Truck running, 600 miles to drive, etc. yet I wanted to get something up fast.

Second, our server was getting overwhelmed by the hits. Our little tiny association web page had been plastered all over the web and the news and we were in danger of overrunning our bandwidth limits in a huge and expensive way. We went from perhaps 100 hits a day to many, many thousands.

I appreciate everybody's interest and whether it was the web or the local news its great that someone panicked and ditched the truck because of the publicity. I just thought you all deserve an explanation as to why the story disappeared so quickly.

Sincerely,

Glenn Firchow
