Well thanks for sharing Soapweed. And I'm glad you did because otherwise I might not have believed it. I hope everything made out alright when all is said and done.
You know, my grandfather was from the sandhills, and he always maintained he would far rather winter up here. He claimed it may be a little colder, but cold never killed a cow but wind sure did. I have to say, it looks like the old feller may have had a point!
Thanks again.

That is interesting, Silver. Where in the Sandhills did your granddad reside? We do get our share of wind. :?  :-)

Yes, I did look at your pics as I've been in contact with friends and some of your neighbors as of late regarding the storm.

This is another reason I'm glad I'm not connected to Nebraska anymore!!!

In 1993, I spent three days in Alabama in late May and the first three days of June at DisneyWorld in Florida. I pert' near died from the heat, and would have given anything for just a little bit of a breeze. :-)

Well...if you had shed them long sleeved starched shirts and starched " bullet proof" jeans for some Bermuda shorts and pull over and some flip flops, you'd have done fine.

Some of you folks have NO IDEA of how to dress for our weather!!!!!

We've had many a worker come from a western ranch out here to work at HQ and faint dead away , all due to being too proud to give up the " uniform of the West", as I was informed one day!

our legs would fry, skin would fall off like chicken legs

And we wouldn't have a lick of pride left. :-)

I use the same "ranch uniform" (hat, long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans, and maybe tennis shoes  ) when canoeing. The others come out of the water all red, roasted, and tired. I am just as fresh as if the day had been spent horseback. :-)

Went on a cruise, it wasn't too hot but I was the only one wearing the appropriate clothing. Everyone else was freezing in their "cruise wear". :) I spent a year in West Australia working and came home with the same farmers tan Soap has. Some of us need to have shade all the time. Your cows look like they could use a little sun right now though.

Well in all fairness he was from the Saskatchewan end of the hills (worked on the Miner Ranch mostly with some time spent on the Matador through the '30's and '40's), although his dad was from the Nebraska end of things.
He used to say his dad (in Nebraska) refused to believe the difference, so one day he took pictures of the snow stacked on top of the fenceposts in the open field and sent them down. Ggrandpa was apparently quite incredulous :)
