Storm worse than expected

Does anyone know if they got more snow today?

I was raised in SE Colorado (Crowley County), I can just picture it and it's frightening. To thinks of cattle in 40'' of snow...and some are calving (or trying to). Terrible thought.

We've been lucky except the Holiday storm it hasn't been too much to handle.

Those pics were great Jassy, I like the sight that say "are you storm ready" and it expired in Jan of 2007.

I'm forty miles southeast of kearney and ice was bad... At my place I still dont have power, but at my dads we got it back yesterday at 4 pm.. after losing it at 7:20 am on saturday.. We have a winpower pto generator so we could pump water for the cattle.. They were on stalks three miles away, we brought em home saturday, lucky for that.. But still ice was bad on the electric fence, put a sorting stick under the wire and rode along with four wheeler knocking it off... Rough deal...

New Years Day unrolling bales with the pickup on the wheat stubble looked towards the north of our field saw a transformer blow up a couple miles north of us... Its just sad looking down around here.. Talking 4 inches of snow... Woohoo

Here in Baca county we are pretty well dug out for the most part . Livestock losses were a lot lighter than they could be , We lost 6 calves in the storm(s) but the moma cows faired ok . A borrowed end loader from a construction company has been a lifesaver cutting into the herds to feed . The national guard was a big help rescueing stranded moterests ect.. during the early days. I know there was some hay drops done down here but none of our herds got any of it . Hopefully I can get the big grain feeders dug out today and moved so we can get the girls some grain to suppliment hay. The wife and i's herd is still snowed in the corral which is fine as snow is still over 2 ft on the level with 6 to 8 ft drifts .

Thanks for the update on your storm story...Been wondering how the aftermath of all that snow was going...Hopefully it'll settle down for ya, so ya can get back to a normal winter of feeding...Hang in there!
