Emily's new mare Buttercup didn't come up to drink with the other horses yesterday-I thought she most of got into a little group of mares running next to them though I couldn't figure out how she would of. Megan went out to catch her tonight and she wasn't there-we checked every horse herd and couldn't find her. I phoned the brand inspector and there was a stray horse reported up on the Indian reserve-quite a few miles away from my place. Went up and sure enough she was on the edge of a slough in a wheat field-not sure who was happiest to find each other. I called her and she was just shaking when she got up to me. I'd really like to know what happened the last day or so-there's an Airport and a town between us and there-only a half mile that isn't fenced. I think she got a ride!!!!

Got Emily's pony back where it belongs. We took some horses into the sale tonight you have to fill a bunch of paperwork out on them now to. Thirty head of Franklin Freshies in their wish I was set up to buy some broncs lol.

Went to the horse sale in Grande Prairie today too. First time they have had one for a few months as they are getting the paper work figured out. Everyone figured it would be super full, but actually it was very quiet (for a horse sale!) I noticed, though, that it didn't seem to make a difference in the meat price if the paperwork was OK or had some hassles. I figured if it wasn't right and they had to hold the horses for 6 months to meet the criteria, they would pay a lot less for those horses. Nope. (Not that they were paying great prices anyway...) I am not recommending that you don't get the paper work done! Get it done ahead of time. It is a pain to fill in the markings they want - the pictures are easier but take some time. Make sure you date it for the date of the sale, and also make sure you don't use black pen to sign it. That's enough to make the paperwork "not in order"!

I think there was 50 plus at ours-I was coaching 3 on 3 so I missed it-one kind of lame 11-12 year old mare brought $500 not sure what the other mare brought. The lady that bought the older mare phoned me she bought her for a pet-short rides- horse so she should stand up to that you just couldn't use her all day. She couldn't believe we hadn't handled her in 3-4 years lol. Ty and Shauna did a good fence corner sort today we managed to get her captured out about 20 head. One younf Mammoth Jack brought $75 just as well I wasn't there if you know what I'm saying.
