I was wondering if any of you ranchers from other parts of the country had experienced something like this? A clear substance resembling water showed up in my dust gauge. It seems to have just fallen out of the sky. I was gone at the time so I didn't actually witness it take place.[/img]

Shortgrass it is a shame that I can not share our rain with you. We have had more rain in large amounts this spring , than I can ever remember. Last week we had 3 inches on Sunday and 3 more on Tuesday  That is our weather pattern since about March. Fields look like lakes in a lot of areas and the third replant has drowned out.

That's funny!!!!

Glad ya got some ' wet'......it's never enough.

I'll cut the 3rd hay cutting next week...so it'll rain here for sure!

Maybe a jokester neighbor added some of that clear stuff for some fun. :)

Good on you for some needed moisture. Rain makes good grassfarmers out of us all.

Those are my exact words, as I threw my hat 30 feet in the air!!! :D :D

No it never is enough, but it was enough to improve my disposition, but some of those folks in the midwest that are flooded seem to think it is too much. Once I did put a couple of inches in a neighbors guage after a .2 inch shower, but he called me up and chewed me out for tampering with the evidence. Don't know why he suspected me??? :? :?

Wish I could send some of ours your way, I checked on one of our heifers now a mommy:) and we have standing water on half of one of our 120 acre pastures.

Sure glad you got some moisture. However, in these parts it is not such a welcome thing anymore. We are at 175% of normal for precip this year. We don't get showers, we get deluges. A couple inches plus per week. Flies are terrible, pink eye rampant, and foot rot is ongoing. However grass is green but pretty washy. Can't get hay up for nothing. Too wet for herbicides to work in the crop acres, and weeds love all the drinks they are getting. I'm ready for Fall. We can thank the good Lord in your case that every drought ends with some rain.

YeeeeeeeHawwwwww! Congratulations! Hope you have turned the corner and the monsoon kicks in for ya. It trys your patients when the sky gets dried out. But it sure helps when those big old drops start kickin up dust and bring that wonderful smell of wet dirt. Sure happy for ya!

We have a neighbor that checks his gage everyday wheather it rains or not and all he wants to do is talk about it if it rains, I bought some red food coloring and everytime it rains and I remember to do it I put a few drops in it, he has never figgured it out. I have to ride past his gate to check our north east pasture and carry in im my saddle bags.
