Hi everybody, thought some of you might find this funny...or strange...lol
A short while back we were working some calves and a couple of new cows that we had bought. While running the calves through the alley into the chute we had one that just went bonkers and went to trying to get out. She tried to climb the back of another calf and ended up sticking her front leg through the second rail and her back leg on the other side ending up under the bottom rail. So here she is, suspended in place when another calf tried to go up under her....she of course managed to get stuck...why you may ask.......under both of these calves was another calf who had gotten knocked down and flipped over so that her head was up under her body and both front feet were stuck under the bottom rail......so all three calves are stuck here....we were trying to get to the one on the bottom before she either broke her neck or suffocated.........now get this... the one that was leading was in the head catch with her foot stuck between the front bar on the head part and the bar that holds the side squeeze together........talk about a major fubar........
so we finally get the first two unstuck........have to get the front out of the chute after we practically dismantle it...finally are able to get to the one on the bottom........get her feet unstuck flip her over......she hops up... turns looks at us and then just polietly walks away........
Luckily none of the calves were hurt as were none of the humans other than being covered in cow poop, sweat and fly medicine...yuck.....just wish I would have had a camera with me at the time....lol

We've had that happen, specially if whoever's workin the back gate of the chute aint quite fast enuff in lettin it down. but ours has a side swing gate, long as no one's head is in the head gate we can open it up and let em all out the side. let em out, and if someone didnt get what needed done, we just run em back around and thru it all again.
