First the PTO went out of the tractor..so hauled it to Winner SD to get fixed,,,on our way back from picking up the tractor...we blew a tire on the flatbed trailer..."KABOOM"...sounded like a bomb...so we're near Carter SD...only thing there is a bar...no tools in the pickup cause hubby forgot to grab them before we left...thank goodness for cellphones...called a friend who's husband works nearby to get some help...come to find out he's sitting in the bar right where we were stranded...lol Put the spare tire on...travel 10 miles..and it blew too! By now it's dark and not a good place to be stranded again...but ended up at an implement store, left the tractor and trailer there and made it home finally after midnite...lol Always an adventure in the life of a rancher...lol

Out on this ranch we run it till it dies. So we find ourselfs in these type of situation a lot. I am hoping that if I talk to enough people then I can figure out a better way. We started a prairie fire with the old double Kosh mower today. The gards needed replaced a long time ago and we just didn.t have any money. Honey got the fire out with no problem and went and chaged the gards. Bad luck is one thing but if we could figure out how not to have to run things to death and have some money around to fix stuff sooner I think you would have been in bed by 10pm and not sitting on the side of the road.

And those look to be 215 17.5 tires not cheap I've got them on my livestock trailer. I can get the pretty resonable if you need some.

I blew one on my flatbed a month ago that blew so loud I thought the radiator went was loaded with full tanks of distillars syrup but I made it thru all the pastures and back home on five tires and one rim.

Yep, that sounds like a day in the life of us Ag folk. I started today trying to lay down 2nd cut alfalfa. First I made some cuts where I was going to park the sprinkler....that's when the fun started. Sprinkler moved a short distance & stopped...worn out center drive motor gearbox. No problem, I had a spare....an hour later ready to run. Start her up and the another tower had a very noisy gearbox. I was standin' there hopin' she would move far enough that I could get back to cutting. No such luck....70 mile round trip and two hours of installation time LATER, I finally got her moved.

What should have taken 15 minutes took all day. Oh well, better luck tomorrow, for you and me. :)
