When we vaccinated heifers to go to grass we noticed and pulled this heifer to leave home. She is out of a cow we got from Miocene. She would have been 6 months old when she bred.
Unassisted and a good protective momma.

We had the same thing happen here this spring. I reckon the heifer was only five months old when she cycled and was bred. The heifer calved unassisted in about twenty minutes and instantly took to motherhood. Heifer was red angus cross and bull was red angus. INCEST! A game the whole family can play!

we have had several summer calves out of the yearlings over the years.usualy in late july early august.just goes to prove the fertility&early maturity of simmental

We had the same thing happen a year ago. Mom was out in the replacement heifers (who were about to be AI) and there was a new calf. She came back to the house all excited. The calf was very very small but lived.
