The irony of rain

Local rancher has country (lots of it) here in this part of NM but after selling off one of his ranches, he ventured to Oklahoma to "greener pastures" and bought a place there as well --moved his family and life looked good.

They are near Kingfisher, OK --the one and same where CNN showed helicopter rescues when it rained and flooded last week and weekend.

Report Monday morning was he'd located only 500 of the 2000 head that went with the waters and some of them will need shot--up to their necks in mud and water--no fences left, houses and barns under water, no electricity and the only way out of the place was by helicopter --located the horses standing on a hill top. Can't get to them, but found them.

The damage is still not tallied -- survival efforts are still the first on list each day.

And the irony --his dad left NM Sunday with heavy equipment and all the help they could spare to go see if they COULD help---but couldn't take too many of the hands --it's been hitting high 90's here in NM and everyone is pumping water round the clock. Checking wells, fueling pump jacks and keeping tanks full is a daily priority. Someone has to pump the water!

I hate it when we go a month with no water and then get 6" in two hours but then I see something like this on the news and it reminds me to thank the Lord for the 6" we got!
