Well if we want truth and transparency-- last night before it was edited-- it said "black" followers.....

Too bad there are some that want to bring the Political Bull over onto the Coffee Shop and Ranch Talk... :(

I hope you're far more sucessful than the President is

And the really sad thing to me is the number of people that seem to want to see this President and country fail- just because of partisan politics....Just my opinion- but right now at this time in history we should be hoping and praying for success.....
But thats just my opinion.....

and OT apparently Soapweed decided to change it, but as moderator, if you thought it should have been, why didn't you or did you suggest that when you saw it last night?and as for bringing PB into Ranch talk or Coffee Shop, you did the very same thing last week with your comment about Hopalong and others in PB when you mentioned them in your post about the sad happenings in your town, I don't believe anyone called you on the carpet for that? Help me to understand how one is right and the other wrong?
BlkBuckaroo I'm sorry if Soapweed's analogy offended you as I would guess that it wasn't his intent in any way, shape, or form..... but thats just my opinion!

As an old Trooper- I follow the directions...This is the last e-mail I received from Macon concerning monitoring posts...

The only reason I made the post- is to clear up the confusion between last nights posts-- and those this morning...

And if you look back to the other post you're concerned about- I don't think it was me that brought up Hopalong....

But if you want to blame it all on me- feel free- I'm used to it

Moderator:
I'm getting an occasional complaint that one of the Mods is deleting posts because they don't agree with the content. As you know this board is pretty much for no censoring, so please only delete advertising, spam and porn type posts. The complaints don't mention any particular Mod so I'm reminding you all.

I don't really agree with the content, but i did'nt think it was aimed at me in particular.I believe Soapweed to be a damn good rancher, his political beliefs are his own,and i have mine. There's people on welfare of every color, religion, sex, region, etc, etc in this country. It's getting harder to find and place people in jobs that for one reason or another don't exist, are going to other countries, stores are folding and closing doors, what are folks suppose to do? :???: Never judge, lest' thy be judged. It's gonna take a little less bickering and some constructive folks working in thier community for the better of this country and frankly the world to get things on track.Or sit around and complain for the next four years while everyone else is out doing something about thier situation. Not everyone on welfare wants to be there, and not all of them will stay there either. But it's better then them being on the streets doing lord knows what to make ends meet.Give the guy more than a week to get some things going for crying out loud.Just my opinion.

Even though this should be on PB and I plead as guilty as any to bringing politics here when it should not, I just can't leave this alone.

I won't support Obama bacause his success means the country loses. The policies and agendas he has supported in his past would harm this country, and a tiger doesn't change it's stripes. He is a radical left-winger, and his success would mean this country would morph towards radical left-wing policies, and that would cripple us.

I realize this is an extreme example, but should the people of Germany prayed for Hitler's success when he took power in the 30's? Look at what his success did to that country, and even the whole world. Look at what Castro's successes did to Cuba. Here at home and recently, look at what Barney Frank and Chris Dodd's successes did to our housing markets, our economy, and even the world's economy. We need to be very careful who we wish success to, and who's success we support and aid.

Sorry about the divertion. Back to cows now...

UMM?Yeah whatever, you're on the extreme side of extreme.Hitler???Godness gracious Husker settle down.If you don't agree with the guy,so be it.But that's above and beyond the call of duty.

Personally I loved the pictures and the commentary was humorous but it did seem to drag a lot of bebuttals and comments out of the forums that are better suited to politics.I sometimes peruse those other forums but although I was blessed with a thick skull,it is wrapped in very thin skin.

First off, I plead guilty. I did use the word "blacks" before I edited it this morning to read "those who would cast their votes for us." For this I apologize, and that is why it was changed.

Blkbuckaroo, I truly respect you and meant this not as any offense to you or to anyone else. As far as me casting a vote for President, I would have voted easily for either Colin Powell or Condaleeza Rice (both of which are black) before I would have voted for John McCain (who is white). They are both more conservative than Mr. McCain. I didn't not vote for Obama because of his color--I voted against him because of his ultra-liberal political views.

It was disappointing to me that Colin Powell endorsed Obama. I would make a bet with anyone that had Hillary Clinton won the Democratic nomination for President, Mr. Powell would have endorsed McCain instead.

Racism is politically incorrect, especially if it is done by white people. Putting the shoe on the other foot, look at how the blacks banded together to vote in their man Obama. I would be interested to know how many black people voted for the John McCain-Sarah Palin ticket. Not many, I'll bet. But racism if followed by black people is not to be condemned.

Believe it or not, when I took my photos during the day yesterday, none were done with the captions in mind. As I was ready to post them last evening, the captions just fell into place. For those of you who are offended, suck it up. Your stuff offends me sometimes, too, but I do believe in free speech. Once again, I have nothing at all against black people. They are born that color. All of us must play with the cards we are dealt. Liberals don't have to be liberals. They can turn their lives around and be an asset to society instead of a burden.

I, too, wish the best for Obama's Presidency. If his ideas work and he doesn't screw things up worse, I will be one of the first to offer him congratulations. Until he proves to be successful, I will remain sceptical but supportive.

Please don't let this deter you from letting us tour your operation Mr. Soapweed. I enjoyed the pics and the commentary and took it for what it was, an interesting analogy.

I second that emotion,i was'nt offended, just offering my two cents.I just feel the guy needs a chance to do his job before the inqusition.I'm really not easily offeneded, although i don't think the guilty till proven innocent theory should be cast on the President,he's got a heck of a mess to get us out of,having said that, i like a good story as much as anyone, keep the pics coming  Thanks for weighing in on this,i can see it's easy for things to be taken out of context, specially in a year like this. And we don't all have to agree, but we should all at least be civil.Off to Reno now, take care everyone.

I thought the captions were pretty darn funny and Soapweed, this line sums up my feelings exactly.

Soapweed, Is your cattle feeding outfit custom put together? Is it a processor mounted on a single row bale mover by a rancher or did it come out of the factory put together? Also, I thought you didn't get along with cattle dogs, or is it your son's?

Soapweed, I thought your post was a wonderful exercise in creative writing with pictures :!: None of the captions ruffled any of my white or black (or grey!) feathers. I think any school teacher would have been thrilled with your work....the product of a sharp, critical, creative, and well rounded mind :D Sometimes the month before calving can get a little dull with snow, feeding, snow, feeding, ........Never hurts to change the pace a little!

Soapweed

I don't feel you did anything wrong either. We all need to lighten up just a little here. I dont post a lot, but do want you to know that I have enjoyed the ranch tours and I hope that the political correctness crowd doesn't come on here. Thank you

Yeah I was'nt offended but the race card gets thrown around alot. When you can celebrate Black History Month have a All Black Television station All black College who's the Real Racist's.If Whitey tried any of those the shirt would hit the fan.

The one's that should be offended are those cows being referred to follower's like the blind sheep following Barack Obama.

The feed outfit was manufactured by Sandhills Ranch Equipment at Bassett, Nebraska. It is called a D&W bale feeder, and comes with a Haybuster processor for winter feeding and a loading arm for summertime hauling of six bales at a time off the hayfields.

I've only used a tractor three days this winter, mainly because my Hydra-Bed pickup was temporarily broke down. Just got it back last night, so will probably use it today for feeding. (A word to the wise--don't ever put power steering fluid in the brake supply canister. Dire consequences will occur. :( I can't even blame anyone else because I did it myself.)

My personal observation would conclude that feeding long-stemmed hay with a Hydra-Bed makes the hay "go farther" than in using a bale processor. I would say that you gain 20-25% usage of the hay.

As far as the dog is concerned, he is a product of our old female dog and our son's cowdog. We have since had the old female dog "fixed." The dog, General, and I get along fine, but he knows that he'd better not be around the cattle at all.

Regardless of politics, i enjoyed the tour! :D Hope the wind behaves for ya and the cows do well. When do ya start calving?

Bulls were turned with the heifers on May 16th, and with the cows on May 20th. Due date for the heifers is Febrary 22 and February 26 for the cows. It is like a time bomb waiting to explode.

Soap, you must practice a bit of more compassionate conservatism with your bale processor outfit. We used to have an identical one to it, absolutely couldn't keep it in one piece.....not to mention slow feeding, and bales that would come apart getting stuck over the axle. Don't blame you for using the bale beds.

Soapweed, I enjoyed your post as I always do. Your pics were top notch, and your political points were spot on! Racial they were not, let the whiners whine as that is what they are good at. If someone took your post as racial they have some real issues of they own to deal with. Thank you for posting! BTW last night Northern MN was 24 below and today it is 19 above! yippie! Shawn

Soapweed, great pics and commentary. I am an Obama supporter but did not find anything racist in your post, but rather your attempt at adding humor to your pics. Very clever I thought. Keep the pics coming.

Thanks for the positive comments, folks. I am not an Obama supporter, but do respect the fact that he won the election, and I do wish the best for his administration as long as it doesn't screw things up for the worse. A few positive changes he could make would be to:

(1) Once again allow the slaughtering of horses right here in the USA. Horse meat is considered a delicacy in other parts of the world. We have horses and the potential to sell horse meat. Other countries have money to purchase it. We are completely foolish if we don't capitalize on this fact. Besides, it is a much more humane way to dispose of unwanted horses than to watch them starve to death.

(2) Leave the gun laws as they are. The bad guys will always find ways to procure guns. The good guys just as well have the ability to defend themselves and their families.

(3) Don't make any new taxes. Everyone is just about taxed to the max already. More new taxes will just hasten the process of making everyone go broke, and it will sure not give any incentives for businesses to expand and create new jobs.

There is a little gizmo on the front of the processor that regulates the speed of the hydraulics. If that little hooter gets cranked up to top speed, it doesn't take too long to string out a bale. I bought my first one in 1994, and this is the third one I've had. They work pretty good, but I prefer the Hydra-Bed on a pickup if the snow isn't too deep.
