well, this is KU week. a week where my blood boils, and the mean streak really comes out of me.... and for the first time in ages, this game matters! I think the winner of this game is in the lead for the north title, NU will stumble, and Pinkle will take Mizzou out of the running, so it is down to KU and KSU..... perhaps this is a sign that the world ereally is coming to an end?????

but in the spirit of the game, Brad this one is for you!

No doubt a big game and the Tx/OU game is well the toilet bowl (you remember when they called KU/KSU the toilet bowl) Prince has his guys playing as well as anyone in the North or South. Can't ever count out NU because they have so much talent (I know like Tx), but what about CU? MU must lose because its their character, and Pinkle is just their most recent accomplice.

The North may really be up for grabs like never before. In the old Big8 NU or OU was the only suspense, and the B12 North has mostly been a 2 team race. KSU and NU both believe they can win which is trump in close games.

I am curious as to your take on the game this week, is KU a paper tiger, or do they have a real shot at us.

also, if KU wins, Mangino will finally have more wins than chins!

here is to a good game, that over shadows the dirty creek game of OU/UT

Kansas is much better than last year - last year Toledo beat Ks, and won their conferance, this year it was ugly. Kansas is averaging 55 - 6 margine against very average teams. Florida int lost to Penn St, BC, Miami, and Kansas - Kansas is the only team that embarassed them - hell FIU lost to KSU 35 - 21 playing a bunch of Freshmen Central Mich won their conferance.

So far Kansas has smashed alot of teams that would have beaten us in years past, buttttt nobody we've played has B12 speed/size/strength. Kansas has gotten away with crap like special teams breakdowns that will cost a TD in the B12. And Kansas hasn't left Lawrence.

If Mangino had expected his team to be as competitive as they seem to be, he'd have upgraded the schedule. I think Kansas would be 4 & 0 with MU's schedule, and it would have been better preparation for the conferance race. I really think Mangino was playing for a cheap bowl, who knew the North might be in play.

I've been uncomplimentary of the North, but KSU won in Austin and lost to Auburn by less than the home field advantage. CU has talent and put it togather last week, NU has talent and has been winning their games, the slavers would be top 10 if not for Pinkle and MU. The thing about football is you can't lose a few getting better, but at season's end, most of the North will be good. Auburn would rather not meet KSU in a bowl game

If I had to bet my house KSU by 2 TDs 1 for a special teams letdown and 1 for Kansas being shocked on their first trip on the road. I think KSU is surprisingly very good, and Kansas is surprisingly good also, but Kansas is not prepared to play at the level KSU went to in Austin.

my gut says KSU by 21, but I fear a "big game let down" after the throttling of UT. I just hope Prince has the boys ready to play, and they realize that KU is better than before......

in Manhattan gives us an edge, plus the poor traveling of KU fans will make the few Hawk fans fell very very lonely.

I heard they only sold 2200 tickets!

Yeah I heard that also, but when I go to Manhattan I always wear coveralls (not really) and scalp tickets. No matter 2K or 6K it'll be hostile

THe line has narrowed from 4 to 3, but that's merely a function of guessing.

I think KSU by at least 21. After last year's game there will be fire in the belly. If KU is hanging their hat on beating up on Central Michigan that's low expectations as NDSU beat up on CMU also. KU will be exposed.

I could never seem to make a living betting on College football, but one thing I did learn was that if you had to bet on a rivalry game, you always took the points.

SandHusker, in the Kansas KSU game 3 points is almost a push. The Kansas Money is coming from the line play in last year's game (Kansas dominated and returns most players) not a 60 point pasting of central mich

From the Omaha paper;

In college football's national statistics, Kansas is No. 1 in scoring defense, No. 3 in total offense, No. 3 in total defense and No. 4 in scoring offense.

But what does any of that really mean when it's compiled against four teams with a combined 4-15 record?

Answers could come today when the 4-0 Jayhawks, who are receiving poll votes, face No. 24 Kansas State (3-1, 1-0) at 11 a.m. in Manhattan, Kan.

"A lot of people are ready to see how good we really are," KU sophomore quarterback Todd Reesing said. "They want us to go out there and prove ourselves, and that's what we want to do as a team.

"We are ready to go out there and prove that we can compete with the best teams."

Kansas State showed that last week. The Wildcats, a 15-point underdog, hung a 41-21 thumping on then-No. 7 Texas, handing UT coach Mack Brown the worst home loss in his 10 years.

Kansas State also beat Texas last season — then turned around the next week and got drilled by Kansas 39-20.

Junior defensive end Ian Campbell, the Big 12 defensive player of the week, remembers.

"I put a lot into that game personally, so it hurt to lose," he said. "You have to get ready for the next opponent."

K-State quarterback Josh Freeman also remembers his personal debacle against Kansas. He committed six turnovers in that game — three interceptions and three fumbles.

But he says things are different this season.

"I don't know what it is, but there is something special about this team," Freeman said. "Everyone comes out and works hard every week. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season."

Jigs: "I heard they only sold 2200 tickets!"

My brother watched the game on TV and said there were enough fans that he heard the Rock Chalk chant even after the band tried to drown it out.

Kinda rich hearing attendance smack & cupcake smack from KSU.
