What is the most interesting thing you have learned from Soapweed? I know we all visit this site to see what the "Oracle from the Spear point" is up to. I have learned quite a bit from the pics and comments. Biggest idea ever: sex sorting calves before turn out. Never thought of before, but gee what a no-brainer; put the steer pairs on the good feed and let the heifers acclimate to little or no feed. LOL

Soap lesson... Enjoy what you do for a living and put God, family and other folks ahead everything else.

I think Soapweed borrowed my idea of sending the wife on vacation.

But your wife gets paid for taking trips. She does have to keep track of a lot of other people while she does it, though. :-)
Those are actually few and far between. Those Hawaii pics that seem to have disappeared were taken merely because of my trust and generosity.   That may get me in trouble.

In real life I am pretty much a nerd, so it is easy to bask in this internet attention. You all are fine folks to hob-nob with, and I greatly enjoy doing so on a daily basis. Thanks for all I learn from everyone. Even the political arguing is tonic to my soul.

Soap has inspired me to pack a camera daily. Not just to share with ya'll but to leave a photogentic record for those to follow. He has a great if not warped sense of humor! He loves his family and his cows! And he comes up with handy ways to save steps and time. Shoot, I feel like this is some sort'a obituary or something! :???: Hope I live another hundred and Soap sings at my funeral! :D

Sopweed's pictures have got me carrying a small camera all the time. Now I just have to figure out how to get them posted on here in a little less time consuming fashion. I get in trouble for taking pictures of other people working and not working myself. The how to should be another whole thread of its own.

Soapweed's faith in the Lord and willingness to wait on the Lord when human nature say's otherwise is an inspiration to us all. :D :D

Soapweed has reinforced the point that Grandpa always said. "Keep good stock. The work is all the same. At market time, the stock sells itself".
I also appreciate his willingness to state his faith in the Lord, honor his family, and be a good steward of what the Lord has given him at this time.
The pictures are always great as well.

I thought nerds just hung out around computors and such.....oh yeah, I guess we all are in the same boat

No doubt, Soap and Peach exemplified trust in God as they prayed tirelessly for Sunflower. They just seemed to know He would take 'em through, and He did too! The lesson?---never give up!

I have never met soapweed personally and haven't been around ranchers.net for as long as most of you... But I will say that from what I have seen and read here, Soapweed seems like someone you would love to have as a neighbor. From a ranchers view, or at least to me, a good neighbor is worth a million bucks. Thanks Soap, from what I have seen you fill a much needed space here.

Soapweed has certainly been an inspiration to us. The way he
conducts himself, what his values are; the way he runs his ranch and the way he works his cattle are all things to be admired. But the biggest thing is his faith in God and knowing what is truly important.. I sincerely think that miracles do happen and Soapweed, Peach
and Sunflower have experienced a miracle through their faith in
God.

Thanks Soapweed and family!!!

Soapweed in our country is a model rancher, he knows these sandhills need the special care to thrive, and it shows how he nurtures his ranch, cattle, family, and an occasional dog & cat. lol...He has also inspired me to look for that perfect shot of a sunset or the expression on a calf's face. Thank you for that Soapweed...our hats are off to you.

Thank you very much everyone. I truly feel humbled by your kind comments. I will say that Ranchers.Net has inspired me to try to look for the best in every situation. Before stumbling onto this wonderful webpage, I tended to dwell on my own troubles too much. With all of you to answer to, I try now to look at the positives in the ranching lifestyle that we all lead. It's a great life if you don't weaken. :-)

I have learned that all these trees I have been smashing, burning, piling, removing, and cussing all these years are in fact something to be cherished and nurtured and appreciated.

Mostly I have learned that even on here, especially in the political forum, one does not need to resort to personal attacks and name calling in the course of a discussion, regardless of how the other person handles him / herself. Now, putting that into practice for a hothead like myself proves very difficult to impossible at times but I think I am getting better because of the example Mr. Soapweed has provided. Thanks Soap!
