Things taught to us by Soapweed

I can't pass up the opportunity to compliment a fine gentlemen and fellow rancher in the great state adopted by my daughter and her family!

I have learned lots from Soapweed as well, maybe most importantly the importance (and joy) of sharing photo's of the scenery and working moments (OK...hours!) on family operated cattle ranches (& other businesses, too), along with our vacations, Cal.

Now, for the 'however'.....Soap, does it make you a little nervous how much all this sounds like a eulogy??? Not withstanding the fact that a strong Christian doesn't fear death, it can seem a little eerie. Maybe that is why the 'strong, silent types' have a hard time hearing compliments. Maybe we need to give compliments more often to acclimate people to receiving them!!!

I truly do enjoy getting to know your family a bit on this site. And the occasional drive down through your 'neighborhood' is a real treat, too. Love the Sandhills, but not sure I'd love going through a drought there. The gumbo soils we have stay put fairly well where they are not tilled, even during the worst droughts of the 'thirties and 2000-2007.

It is going to rain tonight and our troubles will be over. :-)

Just to add to the eulogy  :) ....a man so gifted as to turn a plain old mule into a good cutting ......uhhhhh.....mule. Not necessarily trying to turn this into a Soapweed roast. :P

Soapweed came to my rescue with a branding buddy. I found this website, lots of great people, and Soap's "over-the-top" help, by doing a search for a Nordfork. It's truly wonderful that there are people like Soap, who tell you something and follow through, especially when you run across them on the internet! :-) We may never meet but I consider him a good friend.

Mostly I have learned that even on here, especially in the political forum, one does not need to resort to personal attacks and name calling in the course of a discussion, regardless of how the other person handles him / herself. Now, putting that into practice for a hothead like myself proves very difficult to impossible at times but I think I am getting better because of the example Mr. Soapweed has provided

Silvers sums it up for me, and the fact that I do pack a camera with me more often because of Soapweed, you can take time to snap a few pictures in the middle of a busy day and share with others, I for one enjoy them a lot, every cow, windmill and well.... yes, the ones of Brady are kinda nice too!!!!

.Soapweed, hopefully your head hasn't swelled so much with all the kind words that your eyes have disappeared and you can't read the screen. :D

I too want to thank you for being free with your knowledge and advice on this site. It is much appreciated.

It is a rare man who is a good businessman, cowman, and family man in the same body.

Thank You,

Dave

We learned this spring that good help can be good looking! :D :D

So do we need details...or are you talking about Rena?

Although Rena tended to get the attention this spring, Soap has got a damn fine looking wife and daughter too and I'd venture to say that the Spearhead Ranch wouldn't operate near as smooth without them.

It is a rare man who is a good businessman, cowman, and family man in the same body.

Such a true statement. Even if one has the abilities, the balance is difficult for most.

I think Soap represents what we all would like to see when we look in the mirror every morning...a person whose values and virtues come from living his faith every day and in everything he does. I fall well short far to often, but thanks for the inspiration, Soapweed!!!

The down side...Soap is going to need a new set of hats :!: :o

I've been inspired by soapweed and alot of you folks on here,to ranch, even though i'm first generation and the odds seem so stacked against us,with good friends and family, and a positive attitude you can build and accomplish anything you're willing to work hard for.

By george I 'd say you hit the nail on the head with that statement!!!

>>It's a great life if you don't weaken. Wink<<

What's this mean, Soap? Were you considering a Hereford bull at one time?

LOL!!!!!

And Soapweed would be the first to admit to that. :cowboy:

Who died any made Soapweed KING anyway?

I mean this is almost getting to the point where ya'll need to go to a Private Room with this!!

I'm sure Soapweed would totally agree, but learning goes on here every day by just about every poster. If it weren't for ranchers I would never have learned how everyone does something different that works in their particular climates and land bases. I love seeing pics{WHEN I can open them... :? }of different areas....ranchers is great place, with TONS of great people :)

Ya know kola you dont have to read this thread if it bothers you so.
I am sure someone in your growing up life told you
" If you aint got nothing nice to say dont say anything at all"
PLease if you want to be nasty go back to PB and be nasty to me and leave soapweed alone on this thread.

LOL soap you have taught me at times its best to leave some things unsaid ......which I have done here. I am sorry someone can not let you enjoy people saying Thank you without making personal attacks.
