What a spring. It is a good thing I am an optimist as I am not complaining just going to vent a bit. I am sure all of you have had years like this as well.
Over the winter, our loader tractor was in the shop several times as the front end kept going out. I would venture to guess around 12 grand worth of parts and labor. The first time it was in they worked on it and it came home and the same week it stopped working again. So we took it apart and several of the bolts were stripped and you could turn them with your fingers. Near as we could figure the first mechanic stripped the threads. (not taking the tractor back to them.) He also said the computer was causing troubles so they replaced it. Then the dang front end kept giving us a hard time for the next 3 months. Finally a new mechanic took a look at it and hooked the machine up to the computer and said, the computer was never set up right when they replaced it. (back to the first mechanic) He fixed it and so far it has been a month and no troubles.
Then we have an older CASE. It broke down and it will cost more to fix than it is worth. ($13,000)
We sold a bull to ABS this spring at our bull sale for quite a bit of $. Before we got him to them he up and died in our pen before any semen or $ was collected.
Lastly, we purchased a yearling bull and sold 1/4 interest to ABS as well. They called me Tuesday and said they had a good collection on Monday and then they went out to feed him on Tuesday AM and he was laying in the stall dead.
Oh well, I guess that is life.
At least we are all healthy.
