This makes winter calving look easy

Quite the deal!!! My brother raced in the Iditarod a couple years ago. He finished, which I guess is good for your rookie year. He couldn't afford to keep his dogs and race any more. The stories he told of training, smaller races and the actual Iditarod were unreal. I laugh because he is alive to tell it, but the story of him and a cow moose having it out in a MMA style fight on the side of a trail in real deep snow because she tried to kill his dogs and him, was crazy.

Your brother did very well to finish. The whole Iditarod endeavor would be quite a feat of endurance. Lack of sleep alone would make it very hard to accomplish. My hat is off to your brother. :tiphat:

Yes, indeed! It was kinda up his alley I suppose....he was a starting wrestler for the university of Iowa, has tried to reach the top of Mt. Everest, played on the Alaskan crab/fishing boats, gave a good run training for the Tour De France to name a few... :D

The lack of sleep, cold, having hallucinations... They have to pack bags to be at the lay over spots ahead of time and send them to those spots. He packed most everything in too big of containers and all were really hard to thaw, so even eating and drinking were a chore along the way...:D
