Ok so...a couple weeks ago we went to that antique show....ya know..when I bought my cowgirl bathtub. Well....I seen some floor tile that had the image of horses on em. Among other things...but I really liked them. We'd just bought 850 sq ft of tile for our house. So I thought I'd give it a try. Finished sandblasting it today. I'm real pleased....

Wonderful! Will you need to put a tile sealer on that to keep soils from discoloring the engraved areas? It appears that the tile has a glazed surface, and that sandblasting opened the softer base up to whatever might hit it, or am I mistaken in what I think I see?

That would be coolt with other images, maybe even scenery, maybe on smaller tiles and make a backsplash for a kitchen range, or other appliance, too. How about moving your workshop to SD???? Never mind, we both will be too old to accomplish the task by the time my kitchen gets considered for a re-make!!!!

Have fun with your new art venue.

Thanks ya'll....

mrj...I was planning on using grout sealer to seal those lines.

Haha my mind has been in high gear since I got this done. LOL thinkin up all kinda things I could do. But first I gotta get my tile laid in my house.....Then I can think about playin with some others. I was thinkin a black tile done would look really cool. But I don't know that I've seen any black tile. ??? But it'll be fun lookin...

We got one more small field of hay to cut and bale......that'll be it for the year. Maybe after that I can get the tile in the house laid with Mr. Lilly's help. LOL

Really neat idea. Looks way too cool !!! :) :) :)

You'll hate black tile. It will attract and show every bit of grey and white dust that exisits between the Mexico and Canadian boaders.

Well....I took a picture of the horse. Then played with it in my photo program till I had just the lines and edges. Printed that off.

Then .... back to gradeschool..ya know how you would color with a pencil on one side...then turn it over and color again to transfer it? Well that's what I did with that printed out version of the picture.

I put two layers of laminate sheeting on the tile. 2 only because it was thin and I worried that the sandblaster would blow it off. After transferring it with a pencil on to the laminate. I used a sharpie marker to make the lines darker (cuz I'm blind lol) Then took my exacto knife and cut out all those little lines in the laminate. Pealed off those.

Then took it to the blaster box. Which took meer seconds. I basically went over it once really fast and it took the first layer of laminate off instantly almost, the stuff was blowin and floppin. I just knew it was gonna be a wreck haha. But thankfully the first layer of laminate stayed on the tile....Then I peeled allllll that laminate off and walla.....TP mug was on the tile.

I have photoshop elements...think it's 5.0. It's several years old now.

Took me a long time to figure it out. LOL Lots of sticky notes with directions there for a while until I learned what I was doing and could repeat it.
