This was sent to me recently. I had not seen it for many years and I'm not sure that the school kids of today will have to memorize it as I and others of my generation did -

Today

So here hath been dawning
Another blue day:
Think, wilt thou let it
Slip useless away?

Out of Eternity
This new day is born:
In to Eternity
At night will return.

No eye ever did:
So soon it forever
From all eyes is hid.

i remember doing memory work in school sure didn't last long. only thing i got from it was a nick named that still comes back once in a while. while we were memorizing a peice of the legend of sleepy hollow there was a description of ichabod crane, everybody in the class just looked at me and decided that from that day forward i was ichabod.
