Today

I tried Burnt, I really tried to keep you from being one of them money grubbing, vacation taking grain farmers. All my words in vain....... :(

Best of luck on your venture. :D

I take it you bought the new high powered Ford to go with the image. :P

whether u busted sod or busted the tractor,, i hope the futures don't go busted.
the word 'busted' just seems to have a ring to it.
maybe if the weather isn't busted soon,,u can go to another crop. let us know when u put in for your vacation.

the commodities price drop is as fake as the economy. the GOVT manipulates everything to reach a goal they desire.
they say there is more corn out there...but 3 million acres are flooded out. they say the wheat crop is not as bad as we think, but I talk to a lot of guys in west ern kansas and Oklahoma...no wheat.

the boys in suits and ties use the reports to force the markets up and down because they make millions on every penny the price swings... yet we cling to a lively hoohoo, and barely make pennies, and put out ALL the risk to make the crop......I wish some one would tell AlQaida that the CBOT is the financial hub of America..they blow it up, and we go back to a true supply and demand system

We're so wet can't get across our corn field with the quad. It's not looking good for putting corn in this year. Our deadline to qualify for crop insurance is May 30, and it's going to take a miracle.

Backup plan? Millet greenfeed. It's good to have a backup. :)

Yeah it's good to have a backup but I seem to be stuck in reverse all the time!

Maybe your mirrors are on backwards?

Have you tried corn before? For grazing, silaging or harvesting?
We tried corn last year, but will not be doing it again anytime soon.

I am located in SW Ontario so corn has been around a long time.

I quit cash cropping in '01 and went all into cows just about the same time that the BSE fiasco hit. Now, since my cow herd has been reduced by about half, I am putting some crop in again as I have far more hay and pasture than I need.

And the rest of the cows will likely be gone this fall. Nuf's enough.

Because -

"... It just reminds us of the cost
(of) everything we lost
Bad timing that's all.
Used to have so many plans
Something always seemed to turn out wrong..."

Well O.K. kinda heavy maybe, but at least for me it just applies to the cattle end of things! So I can laugh!

Paint me bitter or whatever you want but I have absolutely zero trust in this industry. The packers are king and we are the pawns and the government that should be protecting free enterprise has thrown us under the bus.

Prices have bounced back a fair bit so I'm taking what's left of my equity and cashing in the chips. Just bad timing, that's all!
