Ok close your eyes if your squeamish…this is a pic of part of the gunk that came out of the knot. Dang all this time we and the vets thought it was just fluid in that lump. But sure nuff it wasn't. Thank goodness Dr. H decided to see if he could get it out. No telling what kinda problems that yuck would have caused later on down the line.

Tryin to wake up. Or….more likely tryin to stay asleep. Took him forever to finally get mobile again. LOL I mean close to an hour.

That he is Haymaker. Although keepin him in a stall he really thinks he's bein mistreated. He hates stalls, wants to be out eatin grass with the other horses, and just doesn't understand why he can't be. But he'll be fine now.

I'm just glad we finally found a vet that knows his stuff. Dr. Honnas is a retired professor from the A & M Vet school, has his practice now outside of College Station...I don't know how long he's actually been out there...place looks relatively new....but LOTS of folks swear he's the best leg man in Texas.

"the best leg man in Texas"...wow, that's covering a lot of country,
JL. :P

At any rate, I'm sure glad you got a vet that was interested in figuring
out what was wrong. That's got to be a big relief. One hopes for the best,
but imagines the worst. This turned out so good for y'all. TP is
such a nice horse and Amanda is a special little lady.

We are so blessed with findin good horses. TP is special. He just has weasled his way into our hearts cuz he's got such personality, and the fact that he's an awesome lil barrel horse.

Also very blessed to have a daughter like Lil Lilly. She handles everything in stride. Not to say that things sometimes don't upset her. They do. But the way she handles it shows me that she could handle the worst case scenerio if she had to. Glad she hasn't had to with TP. The colic surgery, back when we first got him was a close call to that. But comin thru that, just made them a better team in the long run.

And also blessed to live in the area that we do that's populated with good vets.

Thanks for the pics Lilly, sure hope TP makes a full recovery.

My standard bred had the same kind of thing when he was a 2yr, it ended his racing career. The docs did the same ,cut the tendon to drain the area and he was never the same . His back leg now goes kinda goofy when he trots, I ended up giving him to a friend last summer hoping that he will be able to correct it with a little more use .

Will he need the surgury on the other tendon at a later date? Or was it just the one hock that was causing him trouble...So happy that he's doing good! Thanks for posting the pics!
