That song is what I chose my name from years ago. Well, the Faster Horses part.
Sorry to hear. We enjoyed his voice and his music through the years.
Old dogs and Children and Watermelon wine...Ballad of 40 dollars, oh he had some good ones.

Hard to lose these legendary artists. The current crop of “country music folks” is mostly weeds. My kids love the country music of the 60’s-90’s. It makes my day to heat them listening to George Strait and Chris LeDoux and Merle Haggard.

I am surprised no one mentioned Harper Valley PTA. Tom was the best as he was a real storyteller. I enjoyed his songs over all the other storytellers because he didn't dwell so much on the sad depressing part of life. He had a great sense of humor. He also didn't have the arrogance so many country singers did once they achieved fame.

"Old dogs care about you even when you make mistakes
God bless little children while they're still too young to hate"
When he moved away I found my pen and copied down that line
'Bout old dogs and children and watermelon wine"

"I told him I was a poet
I was lookin' for the truth
I do not care for horses
Whiskey women or the loot

I said I was a writer
My soul was all on fire
He looked at me
And he said you are a liar"

"Then you have the nerve to tell me you think that as a mother I'm not fit
Well, this is just a little Peyton Place and you're all Harper Valley hypocrites
No I wouldn't put you on because it really did, it happened just this way
The day my mama socked it to the Harper Valley P.T.A.
The day my mama socked it to the Harper Valley P.T.A."
