We took a little drive up through the foothills tonight as the sun set. Been one of those days. Ya ever had one? I am not on here looking for sympathy but just wanted to share how easy it is to get your perspective all discombobulated! I lost my day job four weeks ago and it's brought some stress. The economy doesn't help much in finding work. I have stayed busy on my place but that doesn't pay the bills too well. And ya get to feeling sorry for yourself. But then ya go for a little drive with your wife and kids and ya see nature in all her glory and ya realize how good you have it! :D It turned my attitude around and I thought i'd share with ya'll. We had a sprinkle of rain that amounted to 8 drops but it left a pretty reminder!

Wish there was a pot of gold in my wirelot behind the old haybarn! :D

Up the valley a little ways was a postcard! Isn't it neat how all these little gifts are right there in front of us if we'll just take the time to LOOK! :D

Dusk on the desert is pretty special. The heat of the day disapates and the clouds make some picturesque views. Takes all the crap that builds up and replaces it with peace and a grin! :D

A two track that leads into a sunset! Paved roads just don't take ya places like that!

The forecast looks scattered and siloutted!

Who need a job to enjoy a night like this?!

My attitude has done a 180* turn. The sun will come up tomorrow and something will turn up on the job hunt. Life is way too short to be having pity parties! All this came from an evening smelling a tiny rain shower on dry soil, some fluffy clouds and God's finger painting to the west!

It helps that my wife is the best woman ever and my kids are pert near perfect! They grabbed the flashlight at ten p.m. and headed for the garden to pick peas! The little pea-pickers did a great job! Hope you all get the moisture you need for your crops and cows. Hope you hug your kids and smooch with your sweetheart! Hope you know that one goofy guy in the west desert has it pretty dang good! Night! :D

:-) I'm at my "day job" right now and I envy the good parts (and it looks like alot of good to me)of your situation-- in a friendly way. Hope you find a day job as good or better than your last one and I'm thankful to the Lord on your behalf for your fine family as it's obvious you are...and the beautiful soil your roots are sunk deep in to. Later.

You have a wonderful perspective on Life, Leanin' H. Packing a camera and taking photos is theraputic. It keeps a person "focused" on finding the beauty that is there if we just look for it. You are a blessed man with a great family and good health, and "youth" is still on your side. Hang in there. Our prayers are with you.

Thanks H, funny how it you let it happen He and this ol' world can solve a lot of problems. Maybe you're not thinking far enough out of the box. Just be versatile and never say never, an opportunity will present itself.

All the best to you and yours.

Tough economy H. My SIL has been laid off 6 mo. I will say his kids have sure enjoyed dad being around so much. It has been good for them. Will add your situation to the list of stuff to pray for. A good perspective and a great corner of the world that ya live in!

Hang in there H. Keep your mind and us entertained with the photo art. God has capacity for a large prayer list so there is lots of room for you and your situation on it.

What can we do to help?
Something will open up, the good Lord will see to that....

Now on the lighter side of things...... I'm really disappointed in you guys because none of you have said if you ran to the barn naked??? Did that not make it rain for alabama and mike??? It worked for nicky....... geeze guys, I'm away for a little while and you forget the drought buster.........LOL

I know it is easy to say.........sometimes hard to practice but,Keep your chin up,I think alot of the country is going through hard times now,but it will pass, the country is full of smart hard workin folks like yourself, just gotta get past these hard spots, kinda like ridin an ole bumpy road, stick with it till it smooths out................good luck

PS Thanks for the picture story, and tell those lil pea pickers hello

You are a special guy, H. I really enjoyed your pictures and comments.
Great that you changed your prespective; a great family
and beautiful country can do that if we will let them. Of course,
it is all God-inspired.

Good luck in your job search. Remember, when God closes
one door, he opens another.

Sending prayers
Too many are in the same situation. Some with a lot less than you have. Enjoy your little ones, this time will be priceless in years to come.
Never give up hope.

I've been getting a little grumpy from working so damn many hours, 7 days a week. Thanks for a little different perspective. Am taking a couple minutes right now to enjoy a mechanical breakdown that I can't fix, while sitting in the AC'd office sipping a big mug of homemade Starbucks.

Good luck with your job search. May be a good idea to think of a way to create one on your own. I'm sure you have many skills you haven't even considered.

nice post 'H....keep thinking good thoughts, life has some funny turns, but there's usually a reason for them. :)

H, as I was enjoying your photos & attitude of what is truly important....I was reminded of God's promise after the Great Flood.....even though there are clouds on your financial horizon the sun will shine again.

Genesis 9

8 Again, God said to Noah and his sons:

9-11 I am going to make a solemn promise to you and to everyone who will live after you. This includes the birds and the animals that came out of the boat. I promise every living creature that the earth and those living on it will never again be destroyed by a flood.

12-17 The rainbow that I have put in the sky will be my sign to you and to every living creature on earth. It will remind you that I will keep this promise forever. When I send clouds over the earth, and a rainbow appears in the sky, I will remember my promise to you and to all other living creatures. Never again will I let floodwaters destroy all life. When I see the rainbow in the sky, I will always remember the promise that I have made to every living creature. The rainbow will be the sign of that solemn promise.

Happy Trails :)

wish I would have known. I am a little far away but could have put you on for three or four months. Beautiful pictures though, the desert seems to call to me more as years go by, who knows i might come drivin my cows thru there this fall. they drove them up here in the 1870's maybe its time to drive them back down where it is warm. :D :D

Handy hard woprking men don't stay out of a job for long_I could get you hired on in Montana in a minute if your interested. I'll talk to some of my buddies on the way to Farmington and see if they know of anything.

Taking a drive in the evening is some of the best therapy that I know of! I do it alot. Just be thankful you have a wife and a couple of little ones to enjoy it with. Being single, my rides lend to a lot of quiet contemplation. Thanks for the post.....I always enjoy your pictures and commentary. And remember...."Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. " Proverbs 3:5-6
