Our annual Cattlemen's Association Banquet is tomorrow night. Thought I'd run some of the info I have put together by ya'll and I welcome your feedback.

We have ordered 240 meals from our caterer. We had 223 commitments and wanted to little to spare. It is impossible to get folks to pre-buy their tickets. Hard headed dang ranchers! Supper will be Roast BEEF with a baked potato, veggies, salad, roll and eclairs and ice cream for desert. Our 3 county high school FFA chapters are sending kids to serve.

We start with the pledge and a prayer. We have scheduled official business to elect more board members. We will meet as a board prior and elect a new president to replace me. (THANKFULLY) :D 2 years was plenty. We will have both presidents of the Utah Cattlemen's and Cattlewomen's associations speak for a few minutes. Then have a few songs by a local musician while the FFA brings us supper. When we all get served and start eating, we have a Vet from Utah State University coming as our keynote speaker. He will discuss "Does vaccinating pay?". He is scheduled for a 20 minute presentation. Then our entertainer will wrap up with 3 songs. After we are done eating and the plates packed off, we will recognize 3 ranchers as Cattlemen of the year with custom jackets. Hand out a couple plaques of thanks for folks who help a lot. Draw for door prizes. And auction off some salt and a few other items to refill the old checking account. Then our president elect will take the reins and say a couple words. Then we turn everyone loose for home and get to take down everything and put it all away. Should be home by 2 am. :D Sleep is over rated.

I will attempt to remember to pack my camera and share some action shots of the festivities! I will be one happy rascal when tomorrow night is behind me. I have been busting my tailfeathers getting things squared away. Thankfully, our board has some good guys (myself excluded) who are fun to work with and a great help. :D

sounds like it is time to move up to a State Association job. Being a regional 2nd VP wasn't too bad when I did it, it mainly took time and learned years ago one has to make time to do other things.
Sounds like you got things under control H.

I prepaid a week ago and expect at least a sand witch and some of them eclairs to show up in mail!

Interesting--I looked up where your county is, I got what might be another of my over nite success mineral plays kinda in that area--well, it's a big area and my over nite success's genrly take some where between 10 yrs and never gonna happen.

But I like this one--it's zinc with copper, magnetite and indium component an Utah is good place to work if there is such a thing, with minerals in u.s.

A lot of lead, zinc, silver and some gold has been mined in our area over the past 2 centuries. We have beryllium claims that have been in our family for a long time. I am not sure where the prospect is located you supplied info to but zinc has a history here.

Here's a map---you know the area?

I do know the area well and can't think of anything going on more than some "doghole" preliminary exploration. Havent saw a single drilling outfit or anything else recent that would lead me to believe there is a viable mining operation happening there. :? I'd be more than careful before investing a nickel.

The banquet went off pretty well. :D I didn't even have to kill anyone. We had plenty of food and it was great. We honored a young cattlemen, a cattlemen and a cattlewoman as our Cattlemen of 2014. Even had the local paper there taking pictures. :D We elected a new president and Ty will do well. (Not to hard to follow the last president) :D We had 244 people attend and raised $3000 for helping FFA and 4H kids at our county stockshow. I didn't get any pictures. Sorry. All and all it was a fine evening and I am happy with how it turned out.

now who on the nominating committee for the State Association? I got a name for them

Negative Jody. :D I have a lot of friends on the state level and they know better than to put a rounder like me anywhere near there. Our state cattlemen's president lives west of me in Callao Utah. He is as good as they come and a perfect fit for that job. His wife is serving as cattlewomen's president so they stay busy. :D And a 2nd vice president is from just up the valley. We are represented well. I enjoyed the county level and excited to see someone else do it now. I will get under the radar where I am more comfortable.
