Went to meeting last night trying to see what can be done to prevent a government take over and/or wild buffalo.

6 million acres in Northeast Montana. Whether it is declared a Nat' monument, or Fish and Game have a wild buffalo herd, or the American Prairie Foundation (World Wildlife Fund) buys up all the land, sounds like the buffalo are coming.
If the buffalo are declared wild, they must share your grass just like any other wild animal. This is cheaper than these groups buying the land.
The misconception and lies the public are being told is unbelievable. Obama is also determined to make something happen. "America's Great Outdoors"

People in our area need all the help we can get. This was a prelimary meeting, but it was quite clear that our senators and representives are not here to help us and honestly can't be trusted. Many of these issue affect all us.
The Dept of Interior's website has places to comment or even come up with new ideas and even vote for these ideas. Check it out.

One thing that was emphasised at that meeting was that nobody is going to help us but ourselves.

This is and will continue to be an ongoing battle, although I am sure intentions are good on both sides. Even in our rural county the acreage owners have much more pull than agriculture does. We are lucky to have really good councilors with lots of common sense and appreciation of agriculture, but that can change pretty quickly.
Good luck with your battle. The only long term strategy is to figure out how to reach out to the public instead of the public knocking the door down like a SWAT team.

Sure feel for ya'll. Back when Clinton was President he made the Grand Staircase Nation Monument around Escalante Utah. All mining, logging and most grazing simply ceased. When the feds want to do something, we learned the hard way here in Utah they do it. No local input, not even congressional approval. The announcement for the monument took place in Arizona because Clinton and Babbit and Redford didnt have the guts to come here to do it. And ya'll be really careful about thinking the Nature Conservancy is on your side. They have been proven to be a wolf in sheeps clothing out here.
